Inadvertantly launched PERFECT!
(mechanically) Stock '05 6MT
I really wish I had a video of this, just so I'd know how good it looked.
I was at a light and realized I needed to be 2 lanes over to the right a block ahead. So, naturally, I figured I'd just buzz off from the light and scoot over... ...until a new black Charger pulled up next to me. I have no idea if the guy was racing, but I figured he would, thus killing my chance to move over. So there you have it. You know what you'd do, and so did I. The only problem is that I hadn't tried to really launch fast since I got the car (900 miles at that point) and was a bit concerned I'd stall it.
Drawing on my AWD launches with the modified '97 GSX, I found myself slipping the clutch a good bit when the light changed. I rode the clutch for a fraction at or after the engagment point, while dipping heavily into the throttle. Must have been about 2500RPM when the clutch came fully up and the throttle completely hit the floor. I was a bit surprised, but definately not by the g-force of the launch (the GSX spoiled me). But I did find that upon full clutch engagement, the *** wiggled all through 1st and gave another really good wiggle after shifting to 2nd. I had no idea that the car would launch this well with the VDC off, much less spin the tires so F'n aggressively!
Sure am glad they don't make a sound while spinning.
In hindsight, I figure I started to engage like a normal take off, with a bit more throttle than normal. Right as it started to engage, I feathered the clutch the rest of the way out while applying throttle. The revs were perfect when the clutch came out completely, at about 2500RPM. No wheelspin off the line! It started about 15' from the line and didn't seem to kill forward momentum much, it just seemed like I was in the powerband right when I needed to be.
I know this might not result in the quickest ET, but it ain't too shabby on the streets, with street tires, where a 3K+ RPM clutch drop isn't the best idea. All in all, I'm very happy with the G's ability to get off the line (given it's power-to-weight ratio).
Anyone else care to share the technique that works best for them? 6MT(s) only. No cheaters!

lol @ Randy. Showoff!
I used to break traction at the top of 1st with the AWD GSX. Nice feeling having all four tires break loose under catapault-like acceleration.
As for the Charger... ...either he wasn't racing, or I shocked him into submission off the line.
He was ahead of the other trafffic, but he was still crossing the intersection after I was well beyond it. Regardless, he was in my reaview mirror as I waved my *** at him, just as I needed.
A couple of months back, when the coupe still only had 200 miles on it, I had a Hemi Magnum in front of me at the light. I could see him looking at me in his reaview, so I excepted him to try to pull away. I was on his *** and was pulling closer in 2nd gear. It might be close, but I'd run one heads-up without concern.

meanwhile in the Charger forum.....
Some weird guy in a G35 coupe must have wanted to race me at the light, but I didn't want to since I was still in my 'break-in' period. He kept making glaring stares at me and revving the throttle on me.
Next think you know, he takes off!! Pretty good launch, in my opinion, but I was going to let him over anyway, since his lane was closed up ahead.
Some people!

LMAO!! ^ Good one.
I'm still in break-in as well.
And no glares or revs, I just watched the light. Afterall, he pulled up next to me, not the other way around.
...He may have just been stopping at the redlight like everyone else, but you know how those domestic drivers are. Always trying to prove something to the imports.

You say that, but it seemed like just enough spin to get into the fat part of 2nd right when I shifted.
But yeh, I suppose "PERFECTLY" is a bit of an exageration. But it did suprise me with it's ability. I just didn't think it was even capable of moving away that quickly. Now that I know, I can skirt the edge of adhesion and make the most of it next time.
And yes, the Charger was a Hemi, but I think he resisted running... ...possibly because of the launch, possibly not. But again, I wouldn't have any concerns about lining up next to one on the street, where traction is limited. I've always been pretty good about finding the perfect balance between a little spin and maximum acceleration.

I figure, if its gonna break....then it wasn't meant to hold together in the first place. I've built MANY motors over the last 20 years, and if after 10 miles everything seems fine...your good to go. IMO
