Opinions Needed- From G35 owners

hello all

I'd like to ask anyone and everyone who would like to help out with this to please post.

Looking for opinions and personal ratings that you'd honestly give on a scale of 1-5

1 being the worst
5 being the highest
3 being average

how you would rate any mods you've had or have on your G?
also if you would recommend them to new owners and what you think or thought of them...?

things like:
exhaust systems (Stillen, Ingen, Nismo)
Y-pipes
intakes
suspension components
s/c
t/c
aftermarket body kits (fitment, ease of install or difficulty, etc)
popular cosmetic mods (front lip spoiler, stillen lower inserts...etc)
popular audio (JL amps, 4080 box, etc)
popular video (NAV conversion to DVD play, digital wheels LCD screen)

please list the type, make, model of your mod, your rating 1-5 and your recommendation and honest thoughts of it?
Example:
Intake
JWT pop charger
rating 3
my opinion: no power gain felt, but sounds great, for the $$ its worth the nice audio coming from the engine

THANKS in advance for your input!

this is just an opinion based thing, no flaming is intended or wanted...

thanks again for helpin

2003.5 G35 coupe 6MT
Intake...Nismo CAI
Rating: 4
Opinion: no power gain really, but design is good since it includes the upper breather filter in the event the main filter gets waterlogged. Sound is decent, but when you put it in short ram (IE ditch the tube that goes into the fenderwell and leave the filter right behind the headlight) it really sounds better. I'm going to do that for the cold weather

2004.5 6MT (Performance package (CDN))

Intake: Z-Tube/Stock Air-Box/K&N Filter
Rating: 3
Opinion: Awesome sound, performance is not really noticeable, best intake solution for the G.

Cats/Test Pipes: Crawford Hi-Flow Cats
Rating: 5
Opinion: Awesome sound w/ stock exhaust, noticeable performance increase, worth every penny. Make sure they' re installed correctly the first time. Bend the heat shields as required.

Plenum: 1/2" Motordyne spacer w/ Iso thermal kit
Rating: 5
Opinion: Not installed yet. My rating is based on expectations.

Y-pipe: UT-R
Rating: 2
Opinion: SOLD! Fitment is very good, but only a good mod if you have a complete exhaust system w/ it. Some power gain up top and some lossed at the low end. Not worth the money (BIG TIME!).

04 A/T coupe

Turbo kit: Greddy TT kit
Rating: 3
Opinion: Good set-up and good spool. Doesnt come with every part needed for high perfomrnace application i.e. over 7psi boost

Exhaust: Greddy Evo2
Rating: 4
Opinion: Great sound. Maintains enough backpressure to give of-the-line tq like stock exhaust. Open enough to give enough high-end hp to jsutify purchase

Intake: Injen CAI
Rating: 3
Opinion: No gains felt. About 1/10th faster at track, maybe. Gives off an awesome sound in the high end

Springs: Tein S-Tech
Rating: 4
Opinion: Gives the coupe a mean low stance. Helps in cornering slightly. Causes camber/toe problems w/o proper correction kits. This leads to uneve tire wear

Those are basic affordable mods except for the TT kit. If you have questions about higher end upgrades such as pistons, rods, cams, injectors, or tranny stuff PM me.

Injen Ses
Rating: 3
Opinion: Can be too loud in the cabin at certain RPM's, Love the looks. Switching soon to the APS for Turbo Application

DPE Wheel Black 20" Variant
Rating: 3
Opinion: Wheel looks great, Just frustrated at the fact that any chemical beside soap and water will tarnish the polished lip! I have had detailers tell me their wheel cleaner didn't have acid in it and they still tarnished the lips (looks like dry soap suds)!

To quality, decent gains, great sound but the tips look kinda cheap

Z Tube & K&N 2
A little sound, washable filter thats about it.

Tein Basic Coil Overs (suspension) 4
Great quality, decent price, adjustability.

Stillen Sway Bars 5
One of my favorite mods, adj. Great quality, big improvement over stock.

Crawford cast plenum (upper intake) 4
Top quality, decent gains, looks cool, Doug's a really cool guy great service his knowledge of the VQ 35 is priceless!

JWT Clutch & Flywheel (newest mod) so far 5+
Top quality, almost half the weight of OEM, revs great, pedal feel is much better than OEM, downside is a LITTLE chatter and potential loss of a little bottom end HP, but worth the trade off IMHO.

Brembo slotted rotors (OEM replacemnt rotors) 5
MUCH better than OEM rotors foir much less $$$, look cool, stopping greatly improved over OEM.

Hawk HPS Brake Pads 3
Much less dust than OEM, average price, squeel like crazy at times, prob the one of the best aftermarket replacement pads avail.

I'm no expert by any means JMHO. Hope it helps.
