Low end power is very important in a race.
Now, how long the race actually lasts will determine if you can make that ground back up again. That's where the power up top helps you out.

One thing i learn on driving Honda/Acura is to stay in High RPM. to me though i'm not an expert, i rarely go below 2-3k RPM when racing. even in a start i usually start around 2.5-3k RPM and after the 1st gear i wont see low 3k anymore. Gees my acura doesn't even see low 3k from the start coz our power is above 4.5K RPM. though it's nice to have that low end power so i don't have to rev my car just to get a good lunch.... Can't replace displacement!!!!!!
