Loss of Power down Low; Can't take it No Mo!

Regarding Aftermarket exhaust:

Why are people concerned about a loss of power down low when street racing(i.e. stop light to stop light?). I think if you let your rpms get below 4000 rpms in any race....you will lose.

It's a fine line to tune for more power and not lose torque down low.
Many aftermarket exhausts will bump upper rpm power and torque at a sacrifice of power down low.
True, the rpm's aren't below 4k much while racing, but for a short time they are.

A major loss in power down low can kill you in a race. You are basically giving the other driver a head start.

Low end power is very important in a race.

Now, how long the race actually lasts will determine if you can make that ground back up again. That's where the power up top helps you out.

One thing i learn on driving Honda/Acura is to stay in High RPM. to me though i'm not an expert, i rarely go below 2-3k RPM when racing. even in a start i usually start around 2.5-3k RPM and after the 1st gear i wont see low 3k anymore. Gees my acura doesn't even see low 3k from the start coz our power is above 4.5K RPM. though it's nice to have that low end power so i don't have to rev my car just to get a good lunch.... Can't replace displacement!!!!!!

if your only racing then it isnt the biggest deal in the world, but who only races their everyday driver....... every day driving is where the low end power becomes very handy.
