Doggie proofing the g?

I live in a condo without a yard and my dog (a small adopted rat terrier or jack russel mix) gets pretty hyper being couped up all day so I take her to my parents house 3 times a week to run around in thier yard. She's always moving and shedding (white fur) and since my graphite leather interior coupe (on order) will be my only car I'm trying to figure out what I should to make sure she doesn't scratch the leather/plastic or get fur all over. I try using a shedding blade before we leave in my current car but that doesn't seem to always work...
Any tips??

Re: Doggie proofing the g?

one of those little cat or dog carriers should be fairly inexpensive and prevent a plethora of possible problems

doggy doodoo, pis, hair, slober, etc on the car

throw an old towel or something on the bottom and you can buckel it up in the back or front (airbag?)

peace,
Good luck

Re: Doggie proofing the g?

Just buy a large beach towel a put it over your front seat or back seats. I don't allow my dog in my G, but he sheds alot, so even in my SUV I put a towel down. Then I just shake it out when we arrive at our destination.

Re: Doggie proofing the g?

I thought about a towel but I am worried it will slip off the rear of the seat and shift around. If the dog would just sit there it would be fine but she's only about a year old and full of energy!
A dog carrier would probably be good if I could prevent it from scrating the seats and if it folded down as to not take up too much trunk space...

I wish I could get my own house/yard but I'm a sucker for a beach view!

Re: Doggie proofing the g?

When I take my dog in my wife's Civic, I fold both back seats down, and cover the hell out of it with blankets. The dog usually just lays down back there, and the blanket stays in place pretty good.

Duct tape is your friend. lol joke

I use my father's car when I need to bring the dog with me, a large blanket usually does a good job except there is always dog hair on the door panels.

No, no...I agree....and so does my $1000 wool area rug. But the little bitch grew on me.

Anyways, I was actually thinking about buying a little older miata or some other fun car to use for dog transport, sun worshiping, buying drugs in the ghetto...just joking on that last part but you get the idea. ...

Re: Doggie proofing the g?

I fold the back seat down and put a blanket throughout the back. She's only ~36lbs, so I have her jump into the rear floor well, then up onto the folded down seat. Most of the time she curls up just inside the trunk area!

And yes...getting out...I have her jump down into the floor well again, then hop out!

Re: Doggie proofing the g?

That's a good idea 6t8stang...then you also don't have to worry about her disturbing your shifting. Besides, who cares if a little hair gets in the trunk. I'm gonna start practicing that in my current car (firebird formula).
