Dealers usually charge too much for tint, but they do a good job(most of the time). If they had the window taken off and the entire window was tinted, I'd say go for it if less than $350. 35% is pretty good. It's a little light, but its good to stay out of trouble with.

Hey look at my pics on the wheel section. It's under the 20" miado GR5. I got limo on the back glass window and the two sides, 20%... I did not want to go too light and not too dark. it's still see through in the sun but at night it's perfect. Plus if you're in California, go to Distinct Auto.. I got it done for $130.00 and it's a life time warranty. They are the one that does Thousand Oaks Infinity cars. They are located in Woodland hills. Good luck..

 

Dealers do not do tint jobs.........they send their cars out to tint shops and then mark it up.

hmm, im getting my black on black tinted 5% all the way around, and i think they do double 5% in the back and side windows, if they do i'll be doing that too. All for less than 150.00

Thanx Conique, yeah it is a biatch to keep clean but she sure looks mean when she is clean!

 

I tried to go darker than 35% and the tint place told me that if you do darker than legal limit, that the insurance company won't pay if you get in an accident. Anyone know if that's true or not?

 

I don't think that is true. I had 5% all the way around on my car and 20% for the entire front windshield and never had a problem with the one or two claims I had.

The tint was great until I moved to TX (from FL) and couldn't pass a state inspection. So, off it went.

However, every policy is different. Call you insurance company to make sure. If you're still worried get it in writing that they don't care about the tint.
