Noise in Neutral
Noise in Neutral
Hi guys. I was wondering if any of you with a coupe 6 spd were experiencing the same thing as me. I have a noise in neutral when the car is idling and when I put my foot down on the clutch it goes away. I only really hear it when the car is in the garage. I had this noise since I got the car and I thought it might go away after the car brakes in a bit. Now I have 2000km and the noise is still there, not any better or worst. The same. There is no grinding and the car shifts fine. I have a feeling my release bearing is on the way out, but I’m not sure if there is a problem because I had this noise when I first got the car. Are any of you guys experiencing this? Any feed back will be greatly appreciated. Thanks John
Re: Noise in Neutral
I have a noise problem also, but yet still different. My car sounds fine, perfectly normal, but its like you can barely hear a plastic or some kinda rattling going on when I shift to 4th, and then it becomes loud right when I shift to 5th, it sounds like it coming from around the gear box, I have no idea what it is though....any thoughts or has anyone had the same problem???
Re: Noise in Neutral
This is normal. I posted about this sound before. I went to a few dealership and they said this is normal. Also at meets and people i've meet with 6mt, I observed the same sound.

Re: Noise in Neutral
I cut and paste the following from a thread I started a few weeks ago. Sound Familiar:
Anyone with a 6MT getting this rattling noise coming from under your car? I have taken it to the dealer 2 times now and they keep telling me its normal. Really what is happening is they just haven't been able to recreate the noise, though they think I am just hearing the normal engine noise and I'm making a big deal out of it. I have demonstrated the noise to at least 10 people over the last 2 months and they have all said the same thing: "this is a new car, what the hell is that noise?" It only happens after I have been driving a lot, and I come to a complete stop, put it in neutral and let off the clutch. it just starts rattling or vibrating. then when I shut off the car it sounds terrible as the engine winds down. It sounds like its coming from directly under the car. Any one else experiancing this? I know it can't be normal.
Your right, its a whole lot louder when you pull into the garage. Please let me know if you make any progress with your dealer, because I am now the most frustrated Infiniti owner on the planet because I cant believe that my dealer cannot recreate the sound. It happens EVERY time.
The noise that I am hearing is definetly not normal. I am sure there is some sort of "slight" rattling sound that might be normal. This, however, is not. The responses I have gotten on my previous thread was that it might be the throw-out bearing. After researching this, and as much as I appreciated that advice, I dont think that is what it is. I just wish someone had the answer since I have been dealing with this for 6000 miles now.
Please let me know if you guys find anything.
Thanks

Re: Noise in Neutral
If it rattles than it is not normal. Mine gargles and that is not normal than ALL the G356MT has this problem. Well at least the 10 that i've checked out.
