I got a question regarding the z tube and the warranty, if I install it myself would this void my warranty or should I just play it safe and let the dealership install it? and also, a ECU reset isnt necessary for such a small mod right?

Stealership most likely wont install it for you. You can try and do it your self.

From what I hear it takes 20 minutes, I'm not risking anything tho.

As far as waranty, it will void it with anything that has to do with your intake. If something goes wrong and they can see that it was the intakes fault, they wont help you out.

But you could always put your Gtube back in before you give it to them, then they will never know!

My dealership had no problem installing the z tube and nismo sports air filter element for me-****-they even did it for only like $10 bucks in labor since I was getting an oil change and winter setup swapped.
-They also had plenty of stillen parts to install-service manager said none of them would void warranty-I think these type of warranty issues are dealer dependant and u should find one that is willing to work w/ u. Oh and the Z tube is a nissan part-no dealership should give u warranty problems for it-that bull****.

As far as resetting ur ECU-if u have an automatic I would recommend it. If you have a 6 m/t-no need to reset.

One more question johnnyLaw, what dealership did you go to for your z tube? I also live in the chicago land area and plan on going to Lisle, IL. I don't want to hassel them by trying to explain how the z tube won't void my warranty or anything. Thx in advance.

Field's Inifniti of Glencoe (Willow exit off 94). I have had great luck w/ this dealership. Very professional and cool w/ mods. They even have a movie theatre, chef, and other amenities to keep u busy while u wait.

From what I've read, the best route to go is to have the Z-Tube and the Stillen Intake. If you buy these two things new and include shipping and tax, it will cost about $300 dollars (Z-tube: $75, Stillen: $200)! A lot of money, but if you don't want to get a CAI, this is the best way to go.

I'm pairing up a New Kintex Plenum with Crawford highflow cats and a stillen intake with a ztube-- I'm looking forward to some niec N/A Gains and a good sounding [hell it already sounds awesome] a killer sounding G =)

sorry for bumping the thread, i just recently put a z-tube on with a Jim wolf pop charger i think it sounds awsome, but what will it sound like with a stillen intake, and would that be better than the pop charger? or is it mainly your own preference?

FTR (record)

I got it all installed-- Stillen CAI makes a very nice sound, I love it.

The only thing I would have done differently was get the chromed ztube. and maybe a better looking (or painted before install) kintex plenum

z-tube + Stillen AB sounds really good especially when you pass the 4K rev mark on a 6MT.

My G sounded like a purring kitten when I just had the Stillen AB, but when I added the z-tube it had a lion's roar. It is really quiet during idle. I love it so far.

That's all you really need to install the z-tube yourself.. very easy... infact anyone can do it.

If you get a Z TUBE installed somewhere don't let them rip you off on a 10 min job.

I'll be doing this when the weather gets a little nicer... I would install myself a cold air intake but can't risk it on this daily driver.. scared of vacuuming water. Anyways a CAI is a little more harder to install because of the piping, I remember I was trying to install a CAI on my Celica I got so damn frustrated I cut the damn thing and customized my own short ram intake.

I had the HKS RS on my Evo and it was great.. Easy install as well, I wonder if anyone has tried the RS intake on the G's? I saw they had them.

Flat out HKS is a great quality company and I trust them and been using there products on all my cars, the only con I think is there stuff is way overpriced.

This is an excellent link for installing the Z-tube:

http://www.6mt.net/mod-g35-350z-intake.php

Took me no more than 30 mins, and that was because I cleaned stuff out in the process.
