is it me or does the ac not cool much?
Re: is it me or does the ac not cool much?
i agree. i also had a stang gt and it's not even close. ford a/c's kick *** though. my girlfriend has a g35 sedan and her's cools much faster than my coupe. figure that one out. this a/c reminds me of my grand cherokee, slow as hell to cool on 100 degree day.
Re: is it me or does the ac not cool much?
well i know there is a thread going around that speaks of holes in the ac that need to be plugged. however it had no pics so its kinda useless. if anyone knows what i'm talking about and has pictures, please post it. thanks

I'm in Northern Cali and it has been over 100*, mine works great, try tinting your windows and you will notice a BIG difference, if that doesn't solve the problem take it to the dealer and have them adjust the coolant/compressor.

I wonder where you "real men" live. 65* every-day-so-cal?
It's been 100* for several weeks here in the midwest. We haven't had any rain at all in over a month, so there's no moisture in the ground to help out. Plus the humidity in this part of the country sucks. It just takes a couple of seconds after I turn her on for my coupe to start blowing nice, cold air. It's great. It's all stock too, no tint or anything.

I have been scratching my head about my AC also. I know its summer time and temps outside can reach about 100, but after driving in it for a while, it still doesnt seem to give out that cold air I have felt in other cars (my bro's '98 Accord is has frigid air! I have a diamond graphite interior, and I know a dark interior absorbs a lot of heat, but my windows are tinted. If yall think taking it to a dealer to get it checked out is worth it, let me know. I may just have to do that.
Thanks!

Re: is it me or does the ac not cool much?
I recently visited my parents in Modesto, CA. It was something like 107° while I was there. As soon as I started the car I got a lot of hot air out of the vents without the A/C on. I will investigate the thread regarding plugging holes in ducting for air...
However, as soon as I turned the A/C on the temp was very cold. I almost always use the A/C in ECON mode. One thing that has been mentioned before is the annoying way the circulation turns itself on all the time. I wish Nissan/Infiniti would realize that most times the operator is actually smarter than the car. If I want the trans to shift down into 4th when I engage manual shift on my auto during freeway driving, then I would shift down into fourth. Likewise if I wanted recirculation to turn itself on when i turn on A/C I then I would press that button....must be a Japanese cultural thing or something. I find the cars behavior very annoying sometimes.

Re: is it me or does the ac not cool much?
I just completed a very long trip which encompassed desert heat, plains humidity and east coast heat and humidity. And there does seem to be an issue with my a/c (I won't call it a problem just yet).
I've kept it almost constantly on 74 degrees and when I'm driving, whether it's into the sun or not, it seems as if the car's a/c kind of cycles between cool air and cold air. But it doesn't do it every few minutes; it does it every half hour or hour.
So, I read the posts here and elsewhere, and stuck it on ECON--same thing. Then, I started playing with the fan while on a/c ECON, and that helped a little. I'm not fond of that roaring, five bars fan speed.
I'm beginning to think that there's some internal computer logic that governs this thing unlike the Mustangs that I've read about here and many other cars of the past and present. Something is turning this thing off, or down. Possibly, I should leave it on AUTO a/c or just do it completely manually and set the temp, outside/inside and fan speed myself which is what I had been doing before with limited success.
I have, at times, changed my temp setting esp. in the desert and driving into the sun---down to 73, and upped the fan speed to two bars or even three. If I set it to auto ECON, it'd be at that fan speed anyway.
If anyone talks to a dealership or hears some more info on this, plz post. I'm interested.

AC smell
Actually I have noticed that when I switch from AC Econ to Auto w/ no AC, a bad AC smell will come out about 15 minutes AFTERWARDS. Really weird. Usually with other cars that happens when you turn off the car with AC and afterwards restart without (I think due to moisture condensing and getting stagnant).
Huh, it just occured to me, maybe when i turn off AC it switches to some other ducts and then when it finds out the air isn't so cold, it switches back to the old-ac duct which has filled with condensation.
Damn I'm brilliant.
