Since I don't keep up with anything BMW-related, I'm surprised to hear there are that many squeaks/rattles in a somewhat more expensive car that is supposed to have a nicer interior. Hmm...

2.5 years. My rear deck rattles like a mother...I should take it in, but I'd rather fix it myself. Need to get my headlights replaced too.

Of all the cars that I've owned, Audi seems to do the best job of making its cars rattle free. BTW I know that price is relative, but I look at the G35 as being an inexpensive car. I look at the M3 as being a somewhat more expensive car, to use your phrase, and the 997 as being an expensive car. BTW 911s and M3s also have squeaks and rattles, but they are easily fixed.

Why are people so concerned about squeaks and rattles when they can easily and inexpensively be eliminated? People should focus on issues like are the engines reliable and do engine seals leak. The engine on my M3 blew with less than 10K miles, and my 996 had RMS leaks. Now these are manly problems; rattles and squeaks are girly problems. Sorry Arnold.

i have a less than one year old car and it rattles... to much plastic on this car... however i have to tell you any car you find you are bound to find rattles....
i just crank up the volume to drown the rattle.

No rattles...

'05 coupe, 4K miles.

I had some dash-vent rattles...and I was ready to take it to the dealership because there's a Service Bulletin on it (they spray silicon in the cracks), but then the rattles stopped. Possibly due to settlement from when it was new.

so at the moment - it's 34 degrees outside - and I'm rattle-free

i just traded in an 03 BMW X5 for a G-coupe and you shuoldnt be worried about rattles so much, as i had a broken valve spring in one of my cylinders and it was just out of warranty.. i'd take a rattle over an internal engine prob. any day. get the coupe..
