Same exact thing happened to me. However, my front bumper had a crack that cannot be patched (body shop said so). Plus, my deductible was really cheap so I just claimed it. Anyhow, to get the bumper, paint, and install, it costed a little over $1000. But that price also includes a new bottom planel (that plastic panel that covers the oil filter and crap). So, since your deductible is 1k, yea, pay it out of pocket.
