Hit Pole at Gas station need suggestions

First post on the forum and such a happy topic. Have a diamond graphite G coupe and I backed into one of those yellow poles surrounding the gas pump. There is no major structural damage outside of some small dents and scrapes(but the scrapes didn't really penetrate into the paint job) and I have that yellow crap from the pole all over the back passenger side panel. I already called the insurance company and set up an appointment for repair (a week from now on next monday) but i'm thinking of going to a body shop I've used before instead. What do you guys think? I

I have a suggestion for you...

DRIVE MORE CAREFULLY!!!

haha.. j/k. Sucks man... very unfortunate that it happened.

One of the things that all us G35 Coupe owners need to realize is that our cars have absolutely terrible rearward visibility. As far as the damage to your vehicle... if it's not too bad, you might want to bring it to a detailing shop and have them see if they think they can buff out the damage for you and do anything about the minor dents(paintless dent removal).

Unless the damage was very significant or you have a very very low deductible, you'd probably want to avoid the insurance company for such minor damages.

If you have a pic of the damage, it might give us a better idea of what exactly you're dealing with.

lol buy a new car...
you said back passenger side panel...thats not a good spot to hit
get an estimate first and i prefer you to go to a good body shop.
good luck and...watch out for those little things.
i've seen people totalling cars by that

I can't imagine myself backing into a pole.. you need to be more careful but who know's I've only had the car for a day..

anyways.. is it worth a 500 dollar deductable for that?... that yellow stuff can be easily scrubbed off with elbow grease or cleaner wax and the dents can be popped by someone like dent wizard... they would charge like 100 dollars for a small dent..

And some people say we don't need a backup camera.

Hell, backing into a pole is no big deal. One of the guys where I worked backed out of his garage a couple of weeks ago. The only problem was that he forgot to raise the garage door before he backed out.

Thanks guys I have a $500 deductible but I doubt it would be that much to fix it. Looks like I need a new splash guard but thats not really a big deal either.

I know how you feel. A couple of months ago I pulled up to a toll booth and was fumbling with money, when I looked up I noticed I hadn't pulled up far enough... so being an idiot I just let out the clutch a little (of course my hands weren't on the wheel) and curbed my wheel. I felt like such an idiot. S**T happens.

If you can post a picture I can probably tell you whether the damage is just paint transfer. if it is a detailer could easily polish it off. As for the dents, pdr = love.

Judging from the scratches and variety of colors I see on those poles, I don't he's the only one who ever did this.
