i had to take my car in yesterday for a suspension prob, so i went in the showroom to look at new 06 model. of course the salesmen hounded me and started telling me all about how they're changing the 07s and what not. It was all pops and buzzes to me until he mentioned they were gonna have an all-wheel drive version for the coupe. I know never to trust a car salesman, but he said that is what infinit issued to him in a statement regarding the next lineup of the g. I havent heard anything about this yet, so just wanted to get your thoughts.

 

Hell, I read in Motor Trend that the new Infinitiy GTR probably won't even have all wheel drive. So, that looks doubtful.

 

If it was released in a true Nissan/Infiniti statement, then someone on here would be able to verify it's authenticity...and it would probably be available online. I gather that we will more than likely have to wait for the reveal of the 07 concept in January to have any more concrete infomation on the redesign.

And as far as the 4WD goes...doesn't everyone think they'd relegate that to the GT-R?

 

1. Its spelled Infiniti.
2. Unless the rear tires of the GT-R are 305's, theres no way all that "expected" power is going to catch traction on a hard launch, so im pretty positive the new GT-R will infact be AWD.

Oops...typed too fast...ok it is Infiniti and it most likely be an Infinit-I GTR and it most likely won't be all wheel drive. Now, unless you have more info then Car and Driver (I actually bought the magazine and thought it was Motor Trend, and they do have a small snippet of the GTR in Motor Trend too). So, that being said, looks like it won't come with AWD. Don't believe me or C&D (current issue), then I don't mind either way. Now, they do have a picture from the Japanese Auto show (I belive, I'm just too lazy to dig it up right now) in the Motor Trend magazine for you to look at. Anywho, from what was read, looks like the GTR won't come with AWD. However, I'm not sure about the new G35 (or G45 perhaps?).

Does BMW offer an AWD 3 series coupe? (or any AWD coupe for that matter)

No. So what does that mean for the Japanese BMW chaser? Any AWD G35C in the future?

Well, in C&D they actually have a pretty good explaination of why they are doing away with the AWD GTR. OK, I'll do this for you guys: I bought both the C&D and Motor Trend magazine (yeah, I get bored during lunch and need something to read...I sometimes go through a whole magazine in 1 hour) and will scan you guys these articles. Motor Trend has some pictures of the Tokyo Auto show with the 90 % completed GTR and C&D has some good numbers (like 450 HP, TT will most likly be the next engine although the US may get a V8 from the M45, price set around $70K, some cool new features, etc.). I know I hate hearsay (or write-say ? :P ) so I'll just scan it so there won't be any confusion, rebutes, etc.

 

Why are you going by what a magazine says? Can you not go by actual physics? The estimated horsepower of the GT-R will be roughly in the 450HP area. As I said before, unless the GT-R has 305-315 size tires in the back, with RWD, that car will not catch traction at all on a hard launch. The GT-R has always been AWD, and guess what, when its released in 2008, it will be AWD.
