Mandatory appear in court?

some of you might already saw a thread I posed about a month ago regarding the speeding ticket i got: 80mph on a 45mph zone. As I waited the fine never came to the mail.. so I call the court, they told me that I'm mandatory to appear in court.. anyone got any idea what's going on?... is it really bad?

any suggestion and help will be great appreciated

thanks

The court requested a mandatory appearance due to your reckless driving (80 in a 45mph zone). But don't worryn the Judge isn't going to slap you with some bogus charge. Not paying the fine before going to trial is a good thing cuz now you can plead to the court that you're financially strapped and request community service.

sounds pretty bad...

the cop wrote down basic speeding violation on my ticket, can or will the judge change that to reckless driving?... if it does happen, that gonna affect my insurance big time..:|

KPC,

I would recommend getting a lawyer. A lawyer can negotiate your offense down for you. Seriously, it is money well spent.

Hey man, listen,

I just got back from court for going 95 in a 60 last thursday - 35 over in ohio. I had a court mandatory appearance too. He wrote on my ticket that it was a basic speeding ticket, no wreckless driving.

Dont hire a lawyer because itll end up just costing twice as much, as there really isnt much you can do with that...unless you are too close to losing your license, then i'd say it's worth it. They can argue points off your offense, but the cheapest one i could find was like 250- 300 bucks. might be cheaper ones where you are at. It wasnt worth it to me. I ended up going and representing myself. I told the judge what happend and he said he understood -- 237 bucks total was my fine. I think I got like 4 points on my license.

Bottom line is you're fine, you wont go to jail or anything so dont stay up at nite scared of that, you'll jsut get fined and points on your license.
