I have 17" alloys with WS-50 Blizzaks and they are amazing, I did not slip once today on a 45 mile trip. Highway I was cruising it at about 50-65mph, more wet there but with little frozen snow in the lanes.
I even saw 4 x 4 pickup trucks spin tires in the snow.. I was just cruising along..
In the city its not bad but alot of inner roads was not cleared out yet and I had no problem driving through without getting stuck. I'll see how these do later at night when I take another trip in colder temps.. when I left this morning it was about 28 degrees.. late at night will probably drop down to around 15-18 degrees.

Thats a sweet looking winter setup
I couldnt justify the $ for winter so my setup isnt that nice looking. My wheels after 2 winters are all messed up scratched and dirty and everything lol
i just got stock sizes in the dunlop winter sport m3. i looked into the blizzak ws50, and i found out that they adversely affected handling and the cars dynamics on dry roads (have you felt that?). from what i read, the ws50 are more like studded tires and the blizzak lm22,25 and the dunlop winter sport m3s are more performance oriented.

So I might just sell those 19 OEM rims, and get some performance tires with these rims... they do look better in person.
I got some Sport Unlimited E3 rims with Dunlop Grapsic DS2 tires for the G from tirerack last week, cost me $870 shipped. Put them on last night, and have been driving in pretty icy and cruddy conditions, and the G handles very well now. Great investment, considering how much safer you'll feel with them on. Bring on the white stuff, I'm ready now.

They are well worth it.. I was doing better than other cars I saw.. all FwD and some 4x4's.

In May I am going to pull the cover off to a prestine G with no salt on it and no salt/rock chips from the $hitty roads.

Hi Chilibowl,
To answer your question, No, auto paint was designed to weather the elements. It does require maintenance, a good coat of wax a few times a year will help keep the paint looking great.
Just my opinion, but to buy an awesome car like the G and only drive it for 6 months out of the year is a shame. This car is meant to be driven year round, as long as you take good care of it & provide it with proper shoes it will be able to handle what ever Mother Nature throws at it.

Why would you drive a G in the snow? I don't get it.
It's an inexpensive car. Why wouldn't you drive it in the snow.
I forked out $3000, bought a beautiful (undervalued) 4runner with 4x4. I will have no problem getting $3000 in 5 months when I sell it.
Maybe you will or maybe you won't. One thing for certain is that selling cars is a pain in the ***, and it's costly and time consumming. Also, how much did you fork out to get the car registered, how much did you pay in sales taxes, and of course there's the added Insurance.

That's true but don't you think that's a high price to pay for keeping a car in pristine condition? The guys with the snow tires will be enjoying their Gs for four months while you go driving around in the beater.

Yes, you could buy a cheap car to drive in the winter, but you do realize 1/4 time of the year, you are driving a piece of crap
Time is short, enjoy it while you can. Also you wouldn't know what will happen to that piece of crap, if you are unlucky, u might ended up paying for a new engine or transmission. Ppl like me who doesn't know how to fix cars. it will be a nightmare, then you are dealing with the pain of selling. So it wasn't worth it at all for me.
