"I'm just wondering how much crap I'll get for buying a beautiful sports car with an automatic."

I used to get a lot of it when I had my 03 5AT, it would go something like this:
some person: ahh sweet car, I love those Gs, is it a stick ?
me: nah its an automatic
some person: too bad

But it wansnt the reason I switched to 6mt, I got bored of the automatic, the mm mode is fun, for a while, but doesnt come close to full control. As far as the traffic thing goes, I drive in heavy traffic everyday, and wouldnt trade my 6mt for a 5at even when the traffic is very bad. Its all worth it when the roads clear up.

Hope I feel the same way in a couple of years lol

Love all the Automatic Infiniti's I've owned, and haven't fretted about the minimal difference in performance (to the 6M/T)

Credibility isn't an issue.....What you prefer is....

Welcome and congrats on whichever you choose.
C.

hey arjunz , hey
Chinadian, im also in the national G club, Chinese too. both Arjunz and I got black coupes.

anyways the national G club has a really good relationship with Inifiti of Chantily (IOC), you should try there, Rosenhaus have sort of a bad rep and some of us has had bad experiences there. However i did hear that they just changed ownership so they might be getting better in the future. Personally I would drive all the way from where I live, College Park, MD to IOC to get my services done.

I have a 2005 6mt and I love it (my first manual transmission car), its just a wonderful feeling to be going through the motions on the 6mt, that satisfactory feeling when you picked a perfect gear and rpm to land on is great. Id have to vote for 6mt. the extra control you have over the engine is so fun. Of course the 5AT is fun too, nothing wrong with that and you wont loose any street cred at all. Its just a personal preference. I think the performance gap is pretty small unless youre some godly skilled driver, i think the difference lies in the fun factor. I always have a smile on my face even when im backed up on 495 traffic

come talk to us on our section of the forum, we have plenty of advises on dearlerships, who to talk to etc

Thanks Terry. I appreciate the candid feedback. Now I don't have a clue what to do AT vs MT. Thinking more seriously about the MT. Tough call.

You think IOC can give me a better deal than Rosenthal?
$29.9K for 5AT w/ SSP
$33.0K for 6MT w/ SSP

Those seem like good prices. When the time comes, I'll definitely check out IOC.

im not sure but worth a try, if you are good at bargaining (which you probably are since youre chinese ). i cant go by exact price. but if you are good at bargaining, you should be able to land a 6MT at a bit below invoice, and a 5AT even cheaper below invoice. thats for 05s. if you want a 06, you can probably land one about 500 above invoice for 6mt and probably around invoice for 5AT. It seems its harder to bargain on a 6mt than 5at.
I got mine at Passport at Alexandira in June or July, paid about 600 over invoice, i consider it a pretty good deal at the time.
start a thread on the nationalgclub forum, i think other folks will have more useful inputs. one of us used to be a car sales man, he has really good tips.

Not great at it, but I appreciate the general suggested price ranges.

Thanks Terry. Meets look tight. I already checked out all the pictures today instead of working. It's nice to see so many coupes together.

People clearly LOVE this car. Do you think the '07 design will push down prices on new '06?

i dont think it will have any worthwhile effect on it, by the time the 07s come out, the 06s will naturally be cheaper. just like how 05s are a lot cheaper now compared to earlier in the year before the 06s came out. so if you want to get a really good below invoice price on a 06, you'll have to wait till around nov next year.

depending on what your driving situations are. if you use it for daily in the city with a lot of traffic, then AT should be the way to go. Cause your leg willl definitely tire you.

Can you still hang the tail out around corners with a 5AT?

Since you mentioned the city stop and go commuting the choice is simple.
5AT..... I have 6speed but if mine was a daily driver and I was living in the city no way I would have it.

auto is boring, MT for life, even when I have kids!

I have been driving MT for 5 years and never regret it.. I drive in traffic conditions everyday bumper to bumper.. sometimes I sit in traffic for 1 1/2 to travel 30 miles and I still have no problem driving a manual through that... you leg's just get use to it, if I drive an automatic my left leg and right hand feel empty like I would be missing something everytime I make a trip somewhere..

Go for the 6MT

BTW I live in Boston and we deal with plenty of traffic here
