Infiniti DVD Navigation Question

just wondering if the DVD-based navigation system that comes from factory is of any use (is it worth getting)? I was told that it does NOT play DVD movies, is that true? What would I need to make it play DVD/VCDs? I did a search and only saw threads about custom dvd/nav players. Thanks in advance fellas.

Denny

Re: Infiniti DVD Navigation Question

There is nothing you can to hack our dvd unit to play videos.

What you need to do is pick up one of these unit http://www.avelectronic.com/Nav-TVTuner.htm and bet a seperate dvd player. Hook them up and you done.

Re: Infiniti DVD Navigation Question

Of course you can! You will have to do a Nav conversion mod for DVD/TV. Here are the instructions.

Bleh... we used up all his bandwidth.

Are you sure you can hack the actual dvd unit to play dvd movies. If so that is sweet. I know we can hack Nav LCD Screen to play an external source.

Re: Infiniti DVD Navigation Question

Okay, I guess I need to rephrase that. You would need to buy a Pioneer GEX P7000 and rewire the RGB cable that was included to make this work. You would need parts for FM modulation and IR circuit. So you can play an external source to play dvd/tv etc.

Re: Infiniti DVD Navigation Question

Has anyone here bought products from avelectronic.com? Their prices are high but they have some cool stuff. For $1250 you can add 10 disk dvd/cd/mp3 cd, tv tuner, reverse camera, and remote control video switching to your infiniti nav without any soldering!
Expensive but nice....
