Did you fill the tank up and actually calulate the mileage or just do an estimate based on the guage? If not you won't be accurate at all. That kind of number sound pretty high to me.

i avg 15-18mpg, never hit 20 mpg or past 280 miles on 15 gallon tank. Makes me wonder if theres something wrong when others avg in the low 20s. i have a messed intake setup, maybe thats why. I have no air duct behind the grill, just a jwt pop charger connected by an injen pipe thats meant to be the lower part of a cai, i think this may be hurting performance and mileage any ideas?

yo, i live in hawaii and I have a 05 6MT, I get about 300 miles per tank, but that number drops significantly if I do a lot of city driving. like disgustingly lower. I think somewhere around the mid 200's. its all the stop and go man. I run my a/c pretty much all the time so that should give you an idea.

I don't shift in the lower gears....It's just not as fun with the AT, manuamatic or not.......I usually coast up in auto till highway cruising speed, (anywhere from 40-50mph) then shift over to manumatic and up to 5th gear. I do this because I've noticed that while cruising in the 40-50mph zone, the AT keeps my gear in 4th....which I thought was the reason for my lower mileage.
I average just about 14-15 miles per gallon, which I'm beginning to see is not the worst case, but still concerns me.
about 4 miles of my commute is by highway, minor traffic in the afternoons.

I shift just before 2k, don't down shift till under 1400, skip shift if down hill or flat, drive like an old lady but smart and anticipate traffic leaving much room ahead to avoiding on-off gas situations. On the hwy cruise at 72 in a 65. don't drive many short trips (under 12 miles, this is a signifigant factor), use my 2005 Baja beater for those. check tires frequently, especially as temps change, use as many synthetics as possible
25-27 hwy
18-20 city
And other times I have too much fun and just won't check

For those of you who can't even get 250mpg....
1) Make sure your tires are properly inflated
2) Stop driving like a mad man
3) The Neutral Gear is your friend
4) Use the brake pedal sparingly
6) Study the timing of traffic lights and use common sense. (don't accelerate into a redlight or traffic)
7) Only use premium gas.

My coupe has 4k miles. I tried to drive like a granny my last tank just to see how good of gas mileage I can get.
- I drive about 70% freeyway/30% local
- I always use traction onctrol as soon as I get on the freeway, and set it at 60mph
- I shift into neutral to let the car coast as far as possible whenever there's a long stretch of downhill on the freeway (about 1 mile at a time) during my daily commute. (not a smart thing to do btw, but I was just experimenting)
- I turn on A/C about 40% of the time
And I still get only about 22.2mpg.
My Z4 easily gets 25~27mpg when I drive it semi-hard, and gets 37mpg with another passenger and a full trunk of luggage whenever I take a long trip from Seattle to Vancouver.
Well, it could've been worse. I could've been driving an RX8 and getting 13mpg.

my fuel average with my 6mt is 22mpg... thats me shifting at 3k rpm... and 91 octane... god i need to move to a state with higher octane gas... however i averaged 25mpg on my trip from LA to San Francisco... by the way these numbers are without air conditioning... its great weather for fuel efficiency right now because if it gets too hot... you can open your windows... if it gets to cold turn on the heat... god i love california... now to work on the octane issue
