Cost comparison at Japan (divide Yen with around 115-120 will get $)
Base model Z costs 3,328,500 Yen
Base Skyline 250GT (Sedan 2.5L) costs 3,391,500 Yen
Grand Touring Z costs 3,958,500 Yen
Skyline 350GT (G35CMT6) costs 3,780,000 Yen
Roadster Z ST costs 4,483,500 Yen
Skyline GT-8 (sedan w/ 8spd AT) 4,147,500 Yen
None of Skyline comes with leather (option only). Z comes with it except for the base model. Skyline doesn't cost as much as Z in Japan. American marketer "Infiniti" did a great job bringing G35 (Skyline 350GT) to this level and status.

My reply
I'd have to say overall the G35 is a much better car then a Z. Here are my reasons why:
1. Pricing - What most people don't know is that the pricing is very similar between the G35 and the 350z. Most people that get the 350z usually either get the Touring model or higher (from what I have seen). That means theres only a few thousand dollars difference. So, for a little bit more you get a much better car. And you can't forget about the residual value.
2. Luxury options - Sit in a 350z, then sit in a g35. My friends that have driven both cars also have said how much smoother the g35 is. Theres too many other luxury appeals the G35 has over the 350z including back seats.
3. Aesthetic beauty - I've heard a few people not really like the looks of the 350z, but have no one heard say that about the g35. People say the 350z is for "teenagers" but I'm a young guy and most of my friends are teenagers and they all agree that the g35 is a nicer looking car. There are a few girls that really like the looks of the 350z but I think most general people like the looks of the G35 more.
4. Performance - While the 350z is better in performance, the g35 is much more smoother. It handles better, and offers a very good mixture of performance and luxury not even seen in a BMW unless you have a 330ci ZHP or higher.
Overall, I will definately say the G35 is a much better car. There's a certain cheapness that ties in with the 350z. The British car review show called Top Gear only gave the 350z a C+ because of the cheap feal. I am not bashing the 350z. Sometimes for me, I actually sometimes wish I had a 350z but then I realize I have a G35. Haha. I actually know lots of people that have 350z's. Definately a great deal for it's price.
