When i shift from 1st to 2nd gear my 2nd wants to push it back out the socket. this seems to be a new things because i havn't felt this before. I've got about 5500 miles on it so far.

can anyone explain this?

Hey, actually just recently they had replaced my transmission due to griding sounds, now all of a sudden I am having problems downloading to 2nd gear. It is a chronic thing, so sometimes I can downshift...then like a week later it will not...not sure what the problem is. Unfortunately when I took the car in, it downshifted fine! Arghh 1000 miles on a 6MT!

If that's the case, the dealer has to give you a new car. Doesn't your state have a lemon law?

I'm not sure if I'm getting a grinding sound but when I shift from 1st to 2nd most of the time its not smooth. With the clutch pedal fully pressed I sometimes have to force it from 1st to 2nd. I don't know if somethings not lining up in the tranny or what. All other gears are OK. Any one have any info...Maybe I'll just have to take in to the dealer.

 

I have the same problem too, it's really hard to shift from 1-2 when I'm pushing the car hard (sometimes it grinds).

I have the same problem with the notchy second gear. Except, it only feels notchy when the car is cold. Once the car warms up, I can get into second gear rather smoothly. I had my dealer check the problem. They claim that it is normal and has to do with cold "fluids". I guess I can live with the problem if does not get any worse. I also remember that my second and third gear was very notchy for the first 2000 miles. Since then, the shifting has become much smoother (once the car warms up).

 

Has this transmission problem only been occuring in the 03 6mt coupes or also in the 04 coupes? So far, i havent been experiencing any shifting problems or grinding.

My car is an 04 6mt coupe. But, I have seen posts for 03's with the same type of problem.

 

PROBLEM SOLVED!
Got my tranny replaced at the Infiniti of Mobile, AL (even though i bought it at the montclaire one in california) and all the notchyness and shifting problems are GONE!!!

Turns out that there are revisions on tranny...like the 4th or 5th or something like that... Not bad enough to call for a recall but i guess if you complain hard enough like i did, you'll get a new one...plus a new clutch assembly.

I don't think the 04's should have this problem because i'd assume..."***-U-Me" that Infinit would put the revisions in the newer models...unless there was too much lead time in the making of the 04's or the problem was caught too late in the game.

If you have problems...COMPLAIN! GET THE SH-T FIXED!
