which is better Skunk2 Intake Plenum (5/8") or Motordyne 5/16. (i know about the search function fyi) both about the same price and clam about the same hp gains. however i would think the 5/8 is better, simply because its bigger. what do you guys thing? thanks

 

Motordyne has a 1/2" as well.

The biggest plus for the Morordyne is the Iso-Thermal which installs below the lower plenum.
This isolates the entire plenum, while the SK2 isplates only the top half.

I also prefer the CNC milled alum. rather than the composite of the SK2.
A little less obvious at the dealers.

 

I don't know much nor have any practical experience with the SK2. However, based on my own personal experience(s), the Motordyne product works as advertised . . . If not better. Tony definitely knows what he is doing.

 

Sport Z magazine just did a test on plenum spacers and aftermarket plenums. I'm sure you could get a copy. (They didn't test the skunk2 because it wasn't available.)

 

ive heard good things about both..........but people just rave about the motordyne 1/2..........i would go with that or the crawford plenum

 

I've read reviews on skunk2 and i'm glad i avoided it - it's cheaper but poorer quality - a lot more reports of fitment issues, as well as leakage problems. Stick with MD; the higher price is worth it in this case

 

The ˝” spacer is definitely one of my top MODz to date.

Just recently put it on about two weeks ago, and the difference is noticeable on the butt dyno. The Motordyne space seems to create a bigger displacement sound under the hood (definitely a bonus )... I can easily break the rear-end loose as I please from the stock norm.

The great thing about this kit was that all the assembly components were labeled in there own individual bags with the added benefits of colored illustrations.

A satisfied customer I am.

Can we use the stock engine cover after installing the 1/2 spacer? That is my biggest concern

Well, If you’re the coupe going with the 1/2" spacer, then no... It
will definitely rub the hood insulator. You won't be able to fit it back on.

Besides if you do, there is a void between the rubber oil filler neck and the engine cover.

Some members have noted that the cover fits on some of the sedans. Not sure if that means the REV up motor for '05.

I am also a satisfied customer with MD, HUGELY. I've been raving about it for the last day now, since I installed it last night. The cover will not fit over the 1/2" spacer, but that would not void warranty. The cover is just for looks, and if you prefer the engine pay with it off, that is your choice. The dealership will not give you crap about the engine cover being off.

The induction noise is great, and performance is amazing as well.

 

As noted in another thread, my service manager complimented me on it.

 

No **** the warranty. I just like to keep the engine cover on because that keeps the cops quiet. Damnit I'm sad to hear about this.. I wonder if there is any other way to someone adjust it to help keep it on.
