I would assume they would need the possibility of a clear background. a sticker always looks better if it's clear or cut out rather than a solid back of color behind it... just my 2 cents... also gradients are not a good idea for logo design...depending on the application of the logo..ex. faxing, some printing, Embroidery, etc...if it was web only gradients aren't a problem.
most importantly it's best if the logo is made with vector art (adobe illustrator) vs. a paint program (adobe photoshop) so the size it's printed at doesn't matter since it's not made with pixels-which if blown up, you lose resolution....The Vector art keeps track of the relationships between these points and paths. Everytime the image is scaled, the paths are regenerated... this creates images that are infinitely scalable without degradation.

These examples are good for web... but for other uses might not be the greatest way to go......

Great explanation and the exact reason for my questioning as well.
I guess at this point they may only be interested in the design aspect but given the time and complexites involved in creating these in the programs you mentioned and other graphic applications that might be utilzed by the talent here, it would be nice to do it right the first time if you get my drift.

he he he.... you said "drift"

yeah.... it wouldn't be cool to spend alot of time on something that could never be used..... hopefully my insite might help some people out... and maybe we will be getting a more indepth post of what they exactly need soon... maybe at first they just threw it out to see how many people would bite at it and want to do it... good reaction so far....

How about making the tail lights and connecting gray part more transparant, giving the focus back to the inifinit logo and text?

Thanks, I'm kind of partial to that one myself. The G35 is a pic of the actual badge off my car.
