I also posted a brief DIY for the basics in the lighting section awhile back.

But it would be too crazy for a step by step for this retrofit. I doubt anyone would actually read through each individual step, and I don't think anyone's going to take the 3 months to do this

In terms of the 06 lights, I don't think the TLs will fit in the lower section, based on what I've seen in the pictures. The TLs have the solenoid at the bottom, and it'll likely hit the bottom of the housing. I have about 3 mm of clearance for the TLs vertically in the 2003-05 lights.

The RS6 are pretty good bixenons as well. Put those H3 halogen clear lenses on them, and they were pretty darn good. Here's a pic of such combo that I took during testing phases.

lol, yeah, I know that plate is messed up too. I got my foot caught on it one day as I was trying to squeeze myself past the car in the garage, and the plate got totally bent. I guess I've been too lazy to fix that.

Too lazy to fix a bent plate but you just finished a DUAL PROJECTOR RETROFIT??!?!?!

Yup, exactly. I'm kind of peculiar in that sense.

I finally adjusted the passenger side TL projector. Still haven't got those chrome amber bulbs for the signals, but I'll install them in the future if I ever take the bumper off again.

Random shot of the headlight, after I had reopened it, adjusted the fog/high beam, and resealed it.

Just the parking lights.

Picture #A, behind a defunct Good Guys, just the TSX low beams.

Picture #B, another shot, just the TSX projectors. Again, these have shields that I cut from tin sheets, to help increase the sharpness from stock.

Exact same spot as picture #A, same camera setting, now with TLs for the fogs + TSX low beams. You can see how there is a double cutoff throughout the beam pattern.

Exact same spot as picture #B, again, same camera setting, all 4 projectors on.

Now again, all 4 on, but TLs in high beam mode. For some reason, it didn't pick out the outline off the high beam pattern exactly.

But for those who are curious, here is the high beam pattern for the TLs, *** this picture was photoshopped to change the brightness.

Foreground pattern. The slitlike shadowing comes from the tiny M3 bolts used to secure the RS6 lens holder to the TL projector, so that I could use the clear lenses.

Last one, enjoy.

Nice job E_K. The lights look great.
Too bad you didn't use your considerable talent on something original.
It was your X5 mod that inspired me to change my headlights.
Oh well, now we have the same set up.
Hope to see them in person someday.

Gee3Five, are you in Socal? We should meet up in one of the Chino Hills meet at some point. I could not get the sharpness of the X5s up to where I wanted. That's why eventually I went with TSX's with custom shields and TLs with clear lenses.

If all goes well, I can show you guys my custom taillights in the next 1-2 months. That's my next project now.

The Chino meets dont really work for me. It is difficult for me to get there on a week night. I look forward to seeing the tailights real soon tho.

yeah, I wish there were more weekend meets.

Anyway, here's some more pics for everyone to enjoy.

At about 30-40 feet to wall.

License plate is still crooked.

To try and prevent the bezel from cracking from the heat of the fog/high beam area, I mounted a piece of aramid gasket to the bezel. I don't know if it'll really work, but so far so good.
