Trouble with tires.

Hello guys, I just got new wheels and tires for my G35 coupe, they are 18 inches, with 275/40/18 rare and 245/40/18 front. Bought them from need4speed store on Ebay. The problem I am having is that the left rare tire rubed on body while turning on fast curves. I initially thought the tires were too big, but then when I looked at them the other three have good three finger space between tires and the body edge, and this left rare one only had like one or one and an half finger space between . What do you guys think happened? something wrong with shocks? I probably didnt notice it with the stock tires!!! since it didnt rub. I am taking my car to dealer since its still under warranty (2003 with 18000mi). Do you think I should change tires back to stock 17inches or let them see my after market wheels&tires? does that void my warrenty in anyways.? would appreciate any input from someone who has had similar troubles....

They are by ruff racing, 18 inches 8.5 in front and 9.5 in rare. Not sure about the offset, didnt ask since they were marketed for G35 coupe, so I thought would fit fine. I was going to get 275/35/18 tires but they didnt have the size in all-season tires so I went with 275/40/18 pirelli P zero Nero M&S. which does fit fine in other three spaces, only the left rare is rubbing and there is definitly less space, atleast 1.5-2 inches when compare to right. I Just wanna see if anyone know about shocks or suspensions, if there is something I can check to see if something is broke.

I did hear knocks(noice) from my tires every now and then, thought it was because car has harder shocks and spring, and noice was more when the car was cold and only on slow speed going on driveway bumps.

Any suggestion what I should do, shall I take it to a local shop first for idea? or put factory rims and tires(which I have kept) and let the dealer mess with it.?

The offset will be stamped on the inside of the wheel......look at your OEM rims first to get an idea of what to look for then try to see on the new rims.
If you can't see it, you'll have to remove a tire to read.

Also check your camber angle. As with different shocks you may not have enough toe in.

I was going to say you have to cook them a little more so they won't rub.

I dont think there is a problem with the wheels or tire... since the other side is ok and has atleast 2-3 inches space. I think either the shock or the spring is broken? or something in left side suspension? what can it be?

I looked at the car from rare today, and it did look little tilted towards the left side.... it has to be something wrong with the car, I dont remember hiting hard to any curb or jumping of the roads.

Its dark now, I will try taking some pictures tomorrow and post them, may be then someone can give me an idea.

here r the pics, I think the offset is too much, or may be I should have gone with 265/35/18 or 265/30/18 in rear. it doesnt work for me, anyone interested in buying them, email me, will give a great deal to get rid of them.

ANy other suggestions???

Not sure why the offset would make one side of the car tilt over more than the other side. I think it would most likely be a suspension problem. Put your stock 17's back on see if you have the same problem. If so, take it to the dealer. If not, I would take it anyways.

I think you are right. I have been using stock 17" before but didnt have any problems. could be because they are pretty deep(offset).

Now there has been one time when I skid cmpletely off an icy road real fast onto curb grass and my car lifted on one side during that, and I heard a loud pop in rear and thought something must have broken because the car didnt run good after that, specially when I drive on or off a driveway I heard pops from rear shocks, and I have taken it to dealer twice since but he cannot find anything wrong with suspension or shocks/springs, he says I am suppose to hear those pops because the car has stiff suspension. He alligns and balances the wheels every time but it hasnt help. That was one of the reason I got new wheels and tires cause I thought the wheels must be bent. But I am sure now that Car's body or suspension must be twisted, and because the 17" rims are running under the gutters they dont rub to the edge even if the space is less above the tire on left side.

ANyway, I will just drive the car till october 06 when my lease is up, till then I will just put 17"s back on.

But seriously, I have bought the setup for 1600.00$ and am willing to sell it for less than 1000.00(shipped) if anyone is interested. I have only driven 400 miles on these tires and there is no damage to rims or tires.

lemme know if you or any of your friends are interested, we can negociate a bit more if really interested.

thanx.

Happy Driving.

Maybe one wheel is a different offset.

Maybe when you slide off the road and heard the loud pop, you bent something. Maybe it shoved everything towards the center of the car and decreased clearance on that side.

hello guys, one last question on this matter, I called need4speed yesterday where I got my wheels & tires from and they think that the tires(275/40/18) are taller than they should be in coupe and that I should ve used 275/35/18. Its funny because they are the one who sold me the tires with the rims as a set for G35 coupe and it didnt occur to them then. Anyway, I do wanna try different tires, because i love the rims, but thought I should ask you guys first before throwing more money.
1. Shall I go for 275/35/18, will that make a lot of difference? or do you guys think I should play safe and go for either 275/30/18 or 265/35/18? will all these tire sizes fit the wheel which is 9.5 inch wide.
2. Can I fit a 255/40/18 on this wheel, since tirerack.com recommends this size for the their 9.5 in wide 18" wheels.

I would really appreciate a quick response if some one knows about the tires, and if you can also try looking at the cars pics above and see for an idea?
Thanx.
