HID Help

Hey guys,
I was in an accident about a year ago and had to have one of my HIDs replaced (I took the car to a body shop, not infiniti). I have noticed that the replacement HID gives off a different color light than the original HID. I have come to the conclusion that either they didn't use OEM parts or do HIDs change color somewhat overtime, as the original HID has about 20k miles of more use on it than the newly replaced one. Any help would be greatly appreciated so I may deal with the body shop appropriately. Thanks!

OEM HID bulbs tend to get bluer over time.

Philips has 5000K bulbs that were made to try and match the color shift that may have occured on older bulbs.

I've noticed that 2003 G35's had the 4100K bulbs. The 2004 and up ones had 5000K blubs (philips 85126+). The body shop probably replaced it with the 4100K ones.

You can try and get them to get you a 5000K bulb to help match the original one.

So you have to change both HIDS when 1 goes out.

Yup, the older HIDs get, the higher temp they fade into. Its usually very faint, and hardly noticeable though.
