Re: Headlights with black housing available?

Two more comments:

1- "cracking open" the headlights is NOT like cutting your springs to lower your car. Plenty of people have done this with several different types of cars. I have not attempted to open the headlights on a G35 myself, but most likely, they're simply sealed with something similar to RTV. They could easily be heated up and you could pop the clear lens right off. Then it would only be a matter of painted the silver part black and resealing the clear lens back on top.

2- Changing the color from silver to black (or any other color) will have no effect at all on the brightness of your headlights. If you look carefully, you'll notice that the part that you want to paint black does nothing for the reflection of the headlights. It's 100% cosmetic only. Changing the color won't do anything at all.

Hitman is right, its cosmetic only, you arent painting the actual reflector, just around it, even look at the 360 modena pic, its highbeams are reflector type and they "look" red but they are actually mirror like ours.
If I had a black G35, i would highly recommend this.

GUYS.. I saw a coupe at the body shop with BLACK HOUSING HEADLIGHTS.. no joke, I wanted to take a picture but didn't have my camera. LOOKED SO SWEET! It was a silver coupe with black housing headlights. Seemed like it came factory, but you never know.

Don't worry about getting condensation inside the headlight lenses.... that only happens if they're not sealed properly.

Have you ever noticed that sometimes headlights get condensation inside, even when they were not touched by the owner? That's because the "seal" got a small air leak and let in the moisture.

As long as you reseal them properly, they should be as good as new.

Hitman, you seem to know your stuff. Any idea if it is feasible to put projector HIDs on in place of the stock reflective lights? I love the look of Bimmer, audi, and the Z's lights and as I understand it they are projectors.

I think Cryhavok is right at least on the Red Coupe I think the red painted headlight housings would look dope. OR..... Black painted with Black powder coated 19's, HMmmmm. The possibilities...

Mani,

I have no idea about swapping to projecter HIDs. I only know that it would definitely not be cheap!

You don't like the stock HIDs on the coupe?

Re: Headlights with black housing available?

I wouldn't say I dislike them...I just prefer the hue of the projectors - like on Audis, S2ks, Zs, etc.

My driver's side lens has condensation inside that dried up (water spots).

I talked to the dealer and they said this is normal. Was he blowin smoke?

Those pics from teh autoshow are silver. they are just reflecting the black ceiling. They look exactly what they would look like if they were black. Pretty cool. But not pre production or anything.

No, they're actually black. I looked at it closely, and have pictures from several different angles. Believe me, they're black.
