TSB general question: does warranty coverage matter?
does nissan/infiniti repair all TSBs even if the vehicle passed the warranty coverage? yes? no? does the warranty even matter?
i brought my car in at a dealership for a TSB regarding a 'clicking noise coming from the rear axle'. my car has past warranty @ 60k miles and the service tech advisor tells me the dealership cannot work on my car. naturally, i become outraged... so i talk to his "boss". the so-called "boss" tells me they can talk to infiniti HQ and ask for a good-will service to fix this garbage. this is non-sense.
generally i have a feeling the stealership is trying to ****** some money from me because my g looks 'expensive' with the modifications. clearly, i'll avoid this stealership from now on.

I am a service advisor for a Nissan dealer. A TSB is NOT A RECALL!!!!! I wish more people knew this! All a TSB is, an update to the field service manual for the TECHNICIANS (NOT THE CUSTOMER) on how to fix a certain problem that may occur. TSB's have no say over warranties. If your car is out of warranty, and you have a problem that is adressed in a TSB, you are SOL!
A RECALL is issued by the manufacturer and the NHTSB for a safety hazard that the car may have. Recalls have absolutely nothing to do with warranties. I still perform recalls under warranty on 1980's 300Z's. A recall will always be covered under warranty as long as the vehicle is reasonably road worthy. A TSB is not.
So if you go into a dealer and your warranty is over, and you demand they fix a problem that may be addressed in a TSB, they do not have to fix it for free. In fact they can not fix it for free without getting approval from Nissan/Infiniti, which is known as a GRT or Goodwill Recomendation Tool. And the dealer really can only run a GRT without prior approval of the customer stating that the customer will pay for the repair UNLESS Nissan/Infiniti decides they will perform the repair under goodwill.
So in response to your claim that are trying to "steal" your money is not true. They can not perform warranty work if your car is out of warranty unless they get approval.

i just can't believe the back axle squeeking occured AFTER my warranty expires.
