Re: Stillen Dual Catback Exhaust Picture

I guess you get what you pay for and that Stillen exhaust is looking nice...

Probably worth the 1 g price tag and the "crappy" customer service on it *if* you ever had a problem with it...

Hmm.. Looks like an X to me. They can be tricky tho. Some aftermarket H designs tend to look like Xs . If it inded it is an X pipe then you are definately in for a treat. Its a very raspy yet soothing ferrari like sound. H pipe is more rumble. I have some vids of my Cobra if you are interested. I doubt it would give you any hint on how cool it would sound on a G35.

Re: Stillen Dual Catback Exhaust Picture

The X-pipe provides for exhaust gas scavenging. This acts like a venturi and helps to draw more air/fuel ("charge") into the next cylinder. It normally adds more HP than a straight dual exhaust.

Here's another picture of the Stillen system on the G35 Coupe.

Re: Stillen Dual Catback Exhaust Picture

Yes the Stillen is a true dual system. The exhaust comes off the cats into an "X" crossover. ALL good exhaust systems have some sort of crossover for proper cylinder scavenging.

The Borla system uses ONE muffler so I'm not convinced that it is a "TRUE" dual system.

Re: Stillen Dual Catback Exhaust Picture

DaveO,
When O' When is the Stillen Sedan Catback Dual Exhaust going to be ready? I have $1000 bucks burning a hole in my pocket. Are there any photos of what it looks like? Even in rough form? I want it now! I want it right now!

OK. I'm a little impatient...and obsessed.

WarpG35,

Check out the thread "Sedan Owners - Catback Exhaust Systems" on the Tech & Mods Forum. I posted a lot of info and two pictures of Stillen's Dual Catback System Prototype on their test Sedan.

Re: Stillen Dual Catback Exhaust Picture

I have not yet heard the Borla. The Stillen sounds like the big Japanese super bikes. It is NOT a low tone but it is better than the factory sound. The Stillen sounds nice but is not the low rumble that I was looking for. I also have the Stillen air box (K&N filter) along with the 350Z intake pipe. Those pieces added almost as much sound as the exhaust system.

I don't know if I will be selling the Stillen system. I may like it better than the Borla.

I'm also playing around with making my own system using the factory pieces but a new muffler. I was thinking of using a Fiero V6 factory muffler. My Fiero had the nicest sound - very low tone.

Re: "The Borla system uses one muffler"

The Borla system is 100% true dual. If you wrapped the 2 stillen mufflers in a piece of metal, you'd have the Borla. Borla just doesn't show 2 distinct mufflers, it only "shows" one, but if you cut the skin off it, you'd see 2 distinct pathways. I think it looks cleaner w/ the 1 unit, but to each his own.

Sounds , looks, expense, but in reality, How many horsepower do you gain for the trouble???
Yuichi's results have not been published and to me horsepower gain is a little more important than a few decibels of sound.
