Insurers won't total a car unless the cost to repair is at least 70-75% of the car's undamaged value. The ability to collect for diminished value depends on your state's insurance law and your policy language (e.g., it's not required to be paid in Illinois).

MikeyMike, you got that right, I myself am Armenian and know alot of people and relative who do this kind of corrupt things. I'll be doing some insurance thing some day too, lol. But it is not the time right now, I still love my car.

Fix it and sell it. You guys are saying this like it's so easy to sell a sports coupe that has been in 3 accidents, not to mention one that was supercharged (so easy to check the oil pan...). Who in their right mind would buy one? The only other option is to trade it in or sell it to a wholesaler but you'd be lucky to get 20 grand for it.

If the damage is 80% or greater, then insurance will total it. You won't be the one that can make such decision. After all, they are the ones that give out money.

You best bet is fix it and sell it urself.

I just went thru something similar in my Audi. I skipped alot of the posts, but thats not going to get totalled. I would say your best bet would be trading the car in for something else. I just recently picked up an 04 coupe and it took me about 10 cars to finally settle. Alot of buyers will run a car fax, see accidents, and back out quickly. If everything gets repiared really well, Id say just keep it and try to enjoy it.

Three accidents in less than two years -- you may want to take a defensive driving class. The accident was probably avoidable, regardless of fault.

BTW, how did she hit you on the passenger side if she was making a right turn (assuming you were going straight)?

She drove straight into my G as I was making a right into a driveway I was stopped pretty much and as the other car infront of me was in my way and she was making the right turn while looking the opposite way for on coming traffic. So not much I could do there. And the the other accident happend while parked on the street and the the first one was while I was waiting at a light so much for defensive Driving.. I dunno I suppose I can try to sell it because my carfax is clean up until now. But I can't trade it cause when I wanted to get the New M5 they wanted to give me 18 grand last month. So now this makes it worse.

Only 18g? How may miles? That car isn't even close to being totaled. The damage looks like that after it’s fixed it shouldn't affect the drivability. The dealer may not even notice it was in an accident. I would take it back for the trade in and not say anything.

That certainly does sound like a run of exceptionally bad luck. Hopefully, you can sell your car for a fair price -- I too would be loath to keep a car that has gone through as much as has yours.

New M5; now that's my type of upgrade, bro
