15000 mile service, what did you guys do?

Oakland Infiniti dealership was asking $389+tax, they said they do more stuff than other infiniti dealership such as replace fuel filter,wind-shield wiper. I assume other dealerships also ask similar price. Is it necessary to do such expensive service? I am a newbie to these stuff, please help.

That price is a bit high. I was quoted $328 (including tax) by them for the service that includes everything you mentioned. If you do end up doing it there, definitely don't pay the $398.

Go to your local mechanic. Anyone who can turn a wrench can check and change filters and fluids.

Anytime you see "replace fuel filter" they gave you the rip off list. The fuel filter is suppose to last the lifetime of the car and to replace it they have to drop the entire fuel tank. The 15k mile checkup is extremely basic and not really needed. All it is really is an oil change with inside and outside airfilters changed. You can do this on your own easily. They throw in a bunch of "inspections" to make it look like they did something useful.

In the Manual of the book, it says its best if we take the G35 to Infiniti dealership and have it maintenance because only Infiniti carries REAL Legit Infiniti parts. I know that i need to get oil change on my first 3000 miles. but i don't know if i should take it to the dealership. Probably charge me like 50 bucks for oil change only. How much does oil change cost at the dealership?

I Scare,
I would love to hear my dealership explain to me what make "REAL Legit Infiniti" motor oil different than any other motor oil? Oil is oil if it is same weight.
The only time I had a hard time finding oil was for my //M3 that used 10W60 synthetic (I think that was the weight if I remember correctly). Oil changes do not have to be done at the dealership.
I personally plan ons witching to Mobile1 Synthetic on my second oil change.

The oil change price is set by your dealer. my local deal in lisle, il charges $80 for a synthetic oil change; I don't take it there...

I buy a 5 quart jug of Mobil 1 at Wal-Mart for $20 and take it to the dealer with me. Just had the 15K service done at Lokey Infiniti in Clearwater, FL for $200 and I had them change the diff and trans fluids as well, just for piece of mind (included in the $200). You can change the in-cabin air filter yourself which saves $$$$.

Changing your own oil is not too hard if you can use basic hand tools and drive up onto a ramp, or even use a jack (latter is not recommended, however...)

If you're not the "get your hands dirty" type, then you can always: find a local mechanic to do your oil change. They should have no problem using the oil and filter you provide (assuming you want to). That'll save on synthetic oil change cost. For example, I had my local nissan dealership use my stuff and they popped in a nissan filter (which is what they use at the infiniti dealership). They charged me $13 including tax (labor), and I paid like... $20something for mobil 1 synthetic.

But really, it's not hard to do the oil change. It should be a breeze compared to the cooper S.

Installing a oil drain valve should make it even easier.
