I do all the oil changes myself so its not a matter of whether they will do an oil change on my G with synthetic or not. Infiniti of Oakland was totally cool with the whole longblock replacement. They were the only dealership that actually honored my warrenty with my mods and didnt try to blame the issue on me "abusing" my car. Thanks guys for the feedback. I plan on using regular (dino) oil for the first 1-2k then switching back to Mobil 1 synthetic. What brand do you guys recomend as far as regular oil?

corvett has aluminum block, and they only put m1 in em. Think about it!

Your dealer is full of crap. Synthetic will not hurt an aluminum engine. Its factory fill in advanced engines from some of the most respected car makers in the world.
I had my first change at 2200 miles and took it to the dealer with a jug of Mobil1 5W/30. The service manager didnt want to use it and said it was too early. I told him I definitely broke it in and ran it hard. He finally said OK and thats all thats been put in it every 7500 miles since. Have 65K on it now and it runs better than new. Oil analysis says so too.

then why does the owners manual SPECIFICALLY tell you not to use it. They have to have some kind of a reason to make that statement.

I just started using Mobil 1 a couple of oil changes ago, no problems yet. My friend has a 96 max with 207,XXX mile on it with 20,000 of them boosted @10psi using Mobil 1.

I've been using Mobil 1 since the my car had 3,750 miles on it. It now has about 16K on the odometer. No problems so far - not a drop of oil has leaked. I think it's safe as everyone has also said. Plus, it's comforting when I see my dealer displaying a quart of Mobile 1 in their parts department display.Originally Posted by redwillow

i put mobil 1, when i had like 300 miles, i change the oil frequently, thats all you got to do, clean motor oil is the key to a good running engine. Every Mercedes Benz car, uses m1, its the best oil out there, i would say that amsoil is just as good too.

When i bought the G it had 14k on it. Since that day i ran mobil 1 syn. Now i have 32k on it. When i picked up my ride, the service manager told me not to use mobil 1 syn. because the block is aluminum and synthetic oil isnt good to run in our engines. He said they use a synthetic blend in all their cars.
I really want to run mobil 1 because its all ive ever used and has a very good reputation. I seem to think my VQ had flaws from the factory being one of the first 2003 Coupe produced. At least thats what i tell myself...
What do you guys think? Anyone had any engine problems while running mobil 1 synthetic?
Im currently in the break in period (@78 miles now), what oil change intervals should i follow for the new VQ? And when should i switch to synthetic?

quicklube manager and tech told me not to use synthetic until 3750 and 10k miles respectively... i told them i wanted a oil change done regardless of the oil change service interval... man the oil was dark as heck.... anyway, my 2k2 maxima has had nothing but 5w-30 mobil 1 synthetic since hitting 1000 miles on the odometer... now at 60k+ miles and 18+ oil changes later, the maximas vq35 motor still purs like new and way quieter than the g35's vq35 at 1300 miles...

I've used M1 since about 18k and I have had no issues. My dealer stocks mobile1 and is more than happy to put it in the G35 if you pay them $80 for the oil change. I don't take it to them to say the least, but they say M1 is the best.
