on average I get around 360-380 with mostly city driving.
My last trip to knoxville and back(to columbus ohio) I nailed 400 and 420 before the light came on. That means roughly when i filled up at home (14.5 gallons) that equals 27.5 mpg.
I recently read an article in Car and driver where the editor went into detail about how acceleration AND deceleration both effect MPG. about how fast and how slow you do both will ultimately effect gas milage.
Here's how I drive daily.
take off and up shifts- normal traffic- shift around 2-2.5k on low throttle.
Passing - one down shift and gradually acceclerate
stopping- remain in 5th or 6th until engine slows to about 1krpm- using my brake as the main means of slowing!
this change has increase my MPG from around 20-21 to 24-27 on most driving.
Of course, as I near the end of the tank, I flogg it down the backroads to the gas stations for grins...
Mind how you acceclerate and decelerate and see what happens...
