Re: me vs. G35 sedan vs. IS300
IS300s do suck stock, but they are easy to modify since their engine is basically a naturally aspirated supra motor. They can handle much more power due to their bullet proof block then the VQ.
I love my coupe, but if you run into a boosted IS be prepared to get spanked.

Yeah, the turbo brings your horse power to 600. That mod costs $6,000, and completely voids the warranty. I guess it all depends on where your priorities are. I'll stick with my stock coupe.

Re: me vs. G35 sedan vs. IS300
Though I think the block is the same in the IS300 as the Supra it is no where close to the same engine as even a NA supra engine. The specs are just better on the Supra and though I know that you can take the IS300 to MAYBE 500HP I doubt that could be done without SERIOUS work on the engine not just a turbo. Relax man if that's true then IS300 to your car is apples to oranges. However, if he has no mad's and handed you your @ss then it's time for some driving lessons at the track my friend. Re: me vs. G35 sedan vs. IS300
getting 600 rwhp is not that easy...
Before I chose/saw the g35 coupe, I was thinking of getting an IS300 and Turbo-ing it. Down here in Miami, there's a very very respectable turboer of lexus/toyota (easily one of the top shops in the US). http://www.toyomoto.com/is300.htm
You can boost them to ~350/400 rwhp on stock internals easily, for about 4k for a good kit that will LAST. Last time I checked (probably about a year ago) there were like 5 different brands that had a turbo for teh IS300. Each had it's own stages to just like 300 rwhp to 450-500rwhp. To get into the higher numbers, there is a lot more money to spend.

As I understand it, the Supra turbo's engine was a cast-iron block which was a big reason why it could take so much boost. Whereas the IS300 has all-aluminum, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You got it right. But its easy to swap the entire motor with a 2JZ-GTE Supra motor in an IS. That's the right way to go. The trouble is finding a 2JZ-GTE. They're not exactly easy to come by, and they're expensive if you do find one. Then you've gotta beef up the rest of the drivetrain (tranny, diff, driveshaft, clutch, etc.) to handle it all. So its not a simple, cheap engine swap when you get down to it.
I actually had someone in an IS300 try to mess with me yesterday when I was in my Z06. I don't know WHAT he was thinking? He didn't have any turbo, and lets just say he was left virtually standing still after I paced him through most of 1st, which was a lot of fun.
