Exclamation Got Bumper Checked...What Should I Do?

Hey guys, on friday i was going to school when someone bumper checked my car at a stop light...turns out the guy is a teacher's assistant at my school...I was getting ready to take a midterm when this happened and the guy was very sorry...he offered to pay for bumper checking my car through his own pocket...the damage is not bad at all, there is about two 2 millimeter "nicks" on the very bottom of the bumper near the exhaust...i don't want to make this guy pay $800 or whatever it would cost to fix since they have to respray the WHOLE bumper just for the very minor damage... my parents actually told me to let it go because it was not that big of a deal...I was thinking of asking for like $200-$300 but I am probably not going to fix the bumper either way...should I just let it go? I'm leaning towards asking for some cash but for some reason my conscience is telling me to give the guy a break since he's just a TA who probably doesn't make a bunch of money...

If the damage is hardly noticeable, I would just let it go. Karma comes around, even though I am not saying that if you ask for money it would be a bad thing. Technically, it is damage and you COULD ask for money if you want, but that is all on you. I personally would just let the guy go .

I know exactly what you mean...the world "karma" keeps popping up when I think about the situation...I'm thinking, if i cut this guy a break hopefully somewhere down the road I'll catch a break from someone

If you cant live with the damage you could just get the area touched up which usually costs aroud 150-300..

screw karma! make him pay! Especially since he offered. If it were a hot girl it would be one thing, you could look for alternate means of payment ;P

i think every person would handle this differently depending on how they feel about the car.............from hearing your story you dont seem to upset over the car, so i would jst pocket a few hundred and let it go

Let it go.

Or ask for an "A" on your next test.

You should have seen what I witnessed this morning with an altima. A guy gets rearended on the parkway going at least 50 and then I guess the guy that rearended him was soo pissed off he preceded to ram the car infront of him at least 4 times. Happened right next to me That was some serious bumper checking. Kinda off topic but still it was messed up....

Yeah, i'd let the guy go too...little scratches are going to happen all over your G ride...My coupe is 2 years old+ now and you'll notice the newness of the ride starts to wear off as you start to see little imperfections.

I'd cut him a break if its not that noticeable...
