i remember when I was in college I once bumper checked a guy in a MB SL500 when I was on the tollway. We both stopped and got out... I apoligized to him for hitting his car, but there was some damage. I explained I had been up all night studying for a calculus midterm and spaced out. He said, don't study that hard and let me go...

+1.... do him a good turn......It will come back in spades one day.

Same thing happened to me a few years back when i had my '00 Civic si. Some older guy bumped me at about 10mph, and did very little damage, just a small scratch. He was driving an old beater truck with a front bumper made out of a 2x10 board, so i just told him to take it easy and i went on my way.
Sometimes ya just cant sweat the small stuff.

Well, it wouldn't cost $800 to fix. More like $300. Bumper Medic.

As for the nicks on the bumper.... i am really carefull with my car and take alot of pride in my paint... i have 1 rock chip and 1 tiny hair line scrach, i think i'd try to get it fixed.... buhh on the other hand if it was my maxima (1995)... id let it go, with no problem. Try gettin some other estimates b4 u let him off the hook.... see if someone could wet sand it a lil then compound it? try scrach X i kno it sounds dumb but it really dose work on lil scraches.... no joke! u just really have to work it in! it worked on my friends jetta!

You don't need to repaint the entire bumper for minor blemishes. Any good bodyshop could fix and colormatch the area perfectly.
