Very noticably loud clicking noise during idle..help?

i just started to hear a loud clicking noise underneath my car. it occurs when my engine is warmed up and only at idle. when i press on the gas the noise goes away. the click occurs rhythmically every 2 or 3 secs... the source of the noise is around the Y pipe area...i can hear this noise with my window down. i sounds similar to the crackling noise after shutting off your car...but its much louder and happens rhythmically...

anyone have any idea what could be causing this annoying noise??? can anyone give me a list of some of the things that are located near the y pipe (ie fuel pump, tranny parts??)???

thanks in advance

Mine does that too, it's the same clicking sound just after you turn off the car. It's just your exhaust pipe trying to cool down.

Lets see...Have any of you installed any mods (exhaust, high flow cats...) or are both your cars stock. If you have or recently intalled any mods I would check out those first. If you don't have any mods just take the car to the dealer and have them check it out. IMO, our g's make lots of noise, creaks, rattles & etc... Most are okay and you just have to live with it but a steady ticking noise can mean something is wrong. Good luck!
