you arent letting the clutch up propperly and are grinding the teeth on the clutch plate which results in the chattering sound you hear.

I wouldn't listen to that too much, unless you have an 05 too graph, but anyway... My 04 Clutch was way better than this P.O.S. 05 Clutch. I was able to dump the 04 clutch at the track and just f*cking around with no problems and no burning smell either. My 05, i've already had to replace it cause it's a P.O.S., I had just under double the miles on my 04 than my 05 and that only has around 8000. I could tell a difference the first day I drove off with the 05 and never liked it, and knew it was going to cause me problems. Sure enough there it went on me and now I have another in there and its just like what was in there.

If you try to rev it up a lil, then let up and slam on the gas, all it does is stick, rev up, start to stink to high heaven, and then you try to shift to 2nd and it still sticks, then you depress the clutch and foot off gas, then put in gear again and then go. Same thing happens if you put it in reverse, back up quick and slow a lil, throw it in first and then press the gas, it sticks and slips. It did it to the one I just had and its doing the same thing on this one.

I'm sure there are other 05 owners who are not liking theirs and who have had similar or worse situations. Doesn't the 05's come with a dual plate while the 03-04's have a single plate. Something just isn't right with these 05's, i'm liking the rev-up engine and how well the mods are responding to it compared to the 04, just not the clutch system.

I so want to put in an aftermarket, but would rather find a 04 for cheap til the time comes when the car gets built up, that is if the TN ST comes out anytime soon for us or if the JWT TT is more reasonable than others.

I empathize with you on this one. I have just learned to accept it and live with it as frustrating as it may be. I have an '05 6MT and the clutch just stinks. I've been driving a stick for 21 years and have never had a new clutch chatter so much upon starting from a stop sign. I had an '91 CRX Si that did it after 60k miles but not when new. Just search under "clutch chatter" and you'll get all kinds of threads on this. It's not just limited to '05 models, you'll see that all other years are affected too. Oddly enough, some people don't have the chatter. I was able to temporarily get rid of the clutch chatter on my '05 6MT by downshifting on freeway offramps from 6th gear. This put a kind of reverse friction on the clutch and perhaps would get the glazing off it. It only works temporarily though and I get tired of doing it-feel like I'm prematurely wearing out my clutch just to get it to work like it's supposed to. One way to avoid the clutch chatter is rev it up to 2k rpm to engage 1st gear from a stop-but it makes it look like I don't know how to drive a clutch. I love the looks of this car and a whole lot of other things about it but this clutch is just a deal breaker for a $40k car. It's a shame but I'll probably end up selling it soon because I just don't like driving this particular model car due to the clutch.

I had both an '05 and have an '06 they both have horrible chattery vibrating clutches. It's embarrasing. I too have been driving sticks for almost 20 years -so I know what to expect.

05' sedan MT6 25,000 miles NO rattles, no problems. It's all in how you drive it.

Ummm no, people know how to drive stick. It doesn't take rocket science. Simply put, all cars are built differently, and some clutches come out better from than the factory than others.

I've been having the same problem since day 1 with my 05 coupe. This subject has been discussed a lot on this forum and it seems like half of the people don't have clutch chatter while the other half do.. I'm one of those who have the clutch chatter. It's annoying, especially when you're on an uphill or you're gassing the minimum amount required to move the car while releasing the clutch.. however you CAN avoid the chatter by revving it a bit higher before releasing the clutch.. so basically if you don't give it enough gas, it will rattle/chatter..

When I initially got my G the clutch chatter was quite annoying. However, after a short time, you will figure out where the clutch engagement is and how to avoid the chatter. I think that with regard to the '5 and '06, most drivers are anticipating a high clutch engagement point and letting the clutch out a bit too much without the proper throttle balance.

I have been driving MT's for some 30 years. This G took more time to adapt to.

Well my 05 clutch has been good except for a rattle from it. But it doesn't slip with all the abuse I give it from racing, etc. I now have 15,400 miles and 0 problems. My 04 clutch was slightly better.

Not true. Some people abuse the clutch more than others and the clutch will respond different in the way it acts. All cars come from the factory with a factory spec and the clutches must meet that.

I had initially asked the dealer if there were any adjustments, which could be made. They said there were none available. In time, you will be able to eliminate the rattle. I rarely get the rattle anymore, even on steep hills and there are plenty of those around here.

well the thing is, after i come in from a drive maybe 10-12 minutes, the clutch when in idle clatters and rattles like a MOTHER. but when i press the clutch it is fine and the only thing i hear is my engine going and the exhaust. However when i let clutch go, the rattle and clatter sound can be heard. Can anyone explain that or is that i problem i hafta deal with at the dealership?
