Some people stated that performance clutches always rattle, and some people who had Corvettes confirmed rattling should not be a problem as long as the transmission works fine and it quiets down when you press the clutch. Don't panic people, our shifter also vibrates a lot more than any other car, and so is the shifting the jerkiest, but it all keeps working fine, so sometimes you just need to get used to it, and enjoy the raw feel of power. I mentioned all the above items to the dealer, so until it all works fine and he assures me everything is fine, I'm just gonna keep lovin it.
thanks for your input. A few buddies of mine also own G coups and none of theirs are even close to being as loud as mine is. it's embarassing to pull up somewhere pull the e-brake up step out of the car only to hear a really loud chattering noise coming out from under the car. i understand that little noise is okay and i'm a reasonable person. I put up with a lot of stuff on my previous car so i'm not one to complain about something unless it's really bad. I talked to my local dealership today and they said the sound could be coming fron 1 of 2 places. it's either the clutch or tranny and it is a WELL KNOWN issue. they said if it's the clutch then they'd leave it and if it's the tranny then they'd replace it but to drive a few thousand miles to see if it goes away or not first. he also said that if it got significantly worse in the next few days to bring it to them asap.

I feel your pain bro. I am going through the same exact thing. When I first start my car in the morning, the clutch rattle is so loud that it sounds like my tranny is gonna explode. What's weird in my situation though is that as soon as the car is completely warmed up, it goes away. The car drives perfectly fine the whole time. It's just the noise. I have my first oil change coming up in about 500 miles and I am definitely mentioning it to get it on the record. I had a 6 puck high performance race clutch on my Civic SI that didn't make this much noise. Like you said, it is kinda embarassing to pull up in a sweet looking modded G and have your car sound like that.

I have an '04 that I bought used at 20K miles about 9 months ago. I put on about 12K since I bought it. As the summer and warmer/humid temps began, my clutch started to squeak like an old wooden floor when it was pressed. ON really humid days, it would sometimes make a really loud cracking noise becuase the squeaking seemed to have gotten so severe. Anyhow, it was squeaking also while just letting up on the clutch and getting the car moving.

Other than that, that clutch was fine, never had any chatter when I got started, it was always very smooth, even on steep hills.

I took the car to the dealer to have the squeak looked at, and they ended up changing the entire clutch under warranty.

After changing, I noticed that the clutch pedal overall has far less tension than the original. The gears are easier to shift into. The engagement point has moved up slightly. Finally, I've noticed that my clutch/tranny chatters when the car just gets moving into 1st. Sometimes, if I'm moving slow enough (ie, in a parking lot) and shift to 2nd, it also chatters and the car "sputters" somewhat lurching back and fourth until the speed increases and things smooth out a bit. Hopefully this will go away after a few thousand miles since the clutch is new. Otherwise, I've just joined the "clutch chatter club" [can you say that 10 times fast]. My situation kinda sucks becuase the original clutch started the car nice and smooth in 1st and now the chatter is already a bit annoying. I could get the car giong on the old clutch without even giving any throttle and it started going smootly, but this new one lurches back and fourth. any ideas? (Sorry for the long post)
