Power Steering Pump problems?

well im not sure how it happened, but im at 26,000 miles and my power steerign pump is leaking fluid horribly. if i turn the car on and look under the car, its like theres a stream of blood coming down off the power steering rack.

im not sure how this happened, but has anyone seen problems with this happening in 20*F temperatures?

i dont have an infiniti dealer in lubbock, so it looks like i get to go get screwed by nissan. i'll let ya'll know what turns up

It's probably just the hoses, probably the high pressure hose cracked.

+1....Most likely hoses..... find a dealer you like and have it towed there.

Temp alone shouldn't have done this. It was probably road debris hitting and puncturing a hose.

infiniti roadside is taking care of me. theyre towing the car from lubbock to sewell in dallas, then theyre giving $600 to find a way a back. im just going to have them set up another tow back to lubbock

see i thought that might be true but the leak is coming from way up inside the engine bay, like close to reservoir. idk yet, but ill post back whenever i get the news from sewell.

and if anyone goes to that dealer and wants to check up on it that would be cool. it IP with Stillen front bumper, Greddy TT kit, and black nismo wheels.

No chance any component of the TT kit created a leak (rubbing or heat damage)?

And props to the Roadside Assistance. I live in San Angelo, with the nearest dealer in Austin (4 hours away). I haven't had a reason to send her back yet, but I can sympathize with not having a local dealer. My local Nissan won't do anything to my G other than change the oil.

Good deal bro... G/L with repairs. Sounds like Infiniti R/side assistance treated you well.
Post up what happens....we'd all like to hear how you make out.

well to start off lubbock wreckers are the biggest fkn rednecks ive met.

the wrecker driver was authorized to use additional equipment to get my car onto the flatbed. unfortunatley this idiot didnt bring anything even after i noted with infiniti that my car is lowered with extensive modification. so in the process of loading my car onto the flatbed the hook and chain got caught under my intercooler. as you can imagine, a steel chain + a steel flatbed + an aluminum intercooler means damage to my intercooler. the dude bent the bottom of my intercooler a good inch and a half as well as scraping the greddy evo2 mufflers.

i called r/side immediately and the lady is putting through a claim in the infiniti claims department to fix the damaged intercooler and exhaust tips. she said they will research what happened as help me out as much as possible.

overall, Infiniti has been great to me, but the lubbock wreckers are idiots.

i'll let everyone know how this problem works out. i expect to get at least a new intercooler out of this. and the greddy mufflers are getting replaced anyways, so im not too upset if they dont cover those.

that could be a possibility. i dont know how close the turbo piping comes to the power steering lines.

Tow truck drivers in TX are rednecks? No way! I would have never expected that!

Optional
Could be hoses, then again, it could be a bad steering gear. It's happened to me before! Had to get a whole new steering gear (300ZX).

its red fluid just like what is in the reservoir, its leaking down the p/s lines, and i dont have power steering anymore. it was quite hard getting it out the parking garage just for the wrecker to get it onto the flatbed.

like i said, its going to Sewell in dallas for them to fix the problem.

ive never had any problems with wreckers in houston. i guess there are enough lowered cars in houston, that they know to carry wood blocks, or they listen to the instructions given to them by infiniti r/side

My buddies rack and pinion just went out the other day. 25k on his car. Infiniti replaced it. Sound like it might be the same.

according to travis at sewell, the low pressure p/s return line was rubbing up against the passenger side turbo and caused a hole to form.

im also having quite a bit of problems with r/side and the infiniti claims department in getting my intercooler replaced.
