NO REGRETS, BUT DAM* WHY RX-8

Re: NO REGRETS, BUT DAM* WHY RX-8
the only rx8 out is the 2004, and it claimed 247, but according to dyno results, that would be like a 30% drivetrain loss which is untrue, so not mazda is offering a buy back of all rx8s sold or a gift card and free scheduled maintenance.

It doesn't look bad at all, did you sit on a 2 tone leather trim?
Even the fabric seats are nice, supportive and comfortable. You cannot compare the interior with an Accord, inside the 8 you feel like on a Jet cabin (low, high shoulder line...)
However, we could say that a G's interior feels like an Accord V6 fully loaded....couldn't we?
A G Coupe fully trimmed sells by: $38,435.00
An 8 goes for: $35,579.00 for the exact same configuration. Those are $3K difference.

Re: NO REGRETS, BUT DAM* WHY RX-8
And the only thing the RX8 has on the G is (maybe) handling. The RX8 looks cool and probably handles well but the G has power, luxury, reliability, warranty, service, and nameplate over it. I wouldn't even say the RX8 is a true sports car since it has 4 doors and a back seat. If it were more around 28 fully loaded I would say it might be a good deal but 35 grand? They've got a lot of homework to do.

Mani!
Handling: the little engine has a lot to do about it.
Looks: the G looks very sweet as well.
Power: I will not even get there....I would feel embarassed.
Luxury: eeee......thats kind of subjective (read nameplate)
Warranty: Infinity has 4y/60K miles vs Mazda 4y/50K miles...close, isn't it?
Service: I am still to find out from Mazda.
Nameplate: I agree that having an upscale Nissan might give some sense of luxury over others....but again, this can be very subjective.
Sports Car: Yeah, has 4 doors and 4 seats. The G has 2 doors missing, that's all. Count 4 seats as well.
Price: I would kill (well, not necessarily) to be able to get an 8 for 28 loaded. The same applies to the G, I would love to be able to get it loaded for 28K as well.
For me, a determinant was the base pricing on both, the G starts much higher than the 8. It is simply out of reach...I guess.
Regards!

Re: NO REGRETS, BUT DAM* WHY RX-8
Response:
Handling: Agreed - power/weight ratio is more than impressive for the renesis. Helps the lightness and balance significantly.
Looks: I agree, totally subjective. They are both great looking cars. Call it a tie.
Power: No debate.
Luxury: The G looks and feels more luxurious from my experience sitting in the 8. The 8 fully loaded has comparable luxury options but from what I have gathered, the G's cabin is better insulated, has a smoother/quieter ride, and has nicer leather seats.
Warranty: 10k miles is 10k miles.
Service: Read JDP's survey here. Infiniti is #1, and Mazda is near the bottom of the pack.
Nameplate: Agreed it is subjective insofar as people's perceptions, but nameplate for me means a higher level of service, quality, and customer satisfaction.
Sport: I never claimed the G is a true sports car - I think it fails that definition by having >2 seats (kind of stupid definition if you ask me, but oh well). I was just correcting people that were claiming the RX8 is a true sports car, as it too fails that definition.
Not knocking the RX8, it is a great car in it's own right and in the end, what feels right to you is what matters. Enjoy your ride.
