Hey All, Does anyone else hear this sound? When I first put my vehicle in drive and begin to pull away, I hear this spring sound in the front of my coupe. Can't tell what it is, but should I be concerned?

 

Hey where in Detroit are you?
Do you have a 6spd?
That seems to be a common sound for 6MT'ers...

I'm in the Southfield area. I have an automatic. I wanted a stick, but I needed my free hand for the ladies. HA

 

Probably happens right about 7mph? If you happen to be coasting downhill from a stop and have your foot resting on the brake pedal, you can probably feel it, too. It's the ABS doing a self-check.

I had the same creaking sound from my suspension. It would occur when the weigh would shift on the suspension (i.e. starting driving, gear change, sharp braking). The service mechanic said it was a loose bolt/nut in the linkage.

Tightened it, and all is ok. Mine started to develop after a road trip through the mountains along the West coast.

cool, i am in the farmington hills area...

The manual says that noise is the ABS checking itself...i just cant seem to believe that

Every morning as I pull away from my house I hear it , I also heard it from the loaner, so I guess it is a normal function as Ryoken said.

I only hear it on first take off, after that I never do.

I think that's actually the ABS system running a startup test.

 

I had the same concern when I first got my coupe. Heard the noise as I started to pull away. Asked the service dept about this and they said it is indeed the ABS.
