I have no respect for G35C AT drivers. That's my point. AT is a joke and is very boring. And I completely disagree with the 1% fun and 99% hassle of stick shift. Every single time I drive my car, it is an absolute joy. I enjoy driving manual transmission every time I drive my car...the only time I do not enjoy the drive is when I am in traffic. But I don't think, "Oh automatic would have made this so much easier." I just think of it as being worth it for all those other times I am not in traffic and having a kick-*** time driving my G35C 6MT.
Stop dissin your brother and let them enjoy their G.

Hey Guys...Growler has to jump in: I have run auto's for 20 years and wanted to get back to manual. The coupe just seemed to me to provide a perfect opportunity for me to get back on the stick. As far as the comparison of whats quicker on the shift, auto or stick, it's up to you. Auto's shift quick, no coordination on the part of the driver is required. But, remember, the stick shift quickness is up to you and you alone. The "G" will do whatever you want it to do.

You know, it's not even okay to get this car in automatic. But it's like 100 times worse if the Auto drivers on this forum start encouraging people to drive auto. This is a driver's car...for people who like to DRIVE. Automatic is for people who like to sit back and chill while they drive...this is not what this car is about, so stop pushing your stupid Auto tranny so hard.

I'm very glad you have no respect for G35C AT drivers, because with your attitude, having your respect would mean as much as a turd on my windshield.
Respect begets respect, and I no longer respect you. There's no need to call AT "a joke" and "very boring". Maybe it's not "your style", but no need to go hating. There is still a lot of joy to be had in terms of steering, cornering, pure acceleration, and just having a nice, classy luxury automobile. Would you call the SL 55 AMG boring? Would you call the E55 AMG boring?
Anyways, have fun feeling higher and mightier because you have an MT... too bad it won't be able to shift your attitude.

The SL55 AMG is still a Mercedes, and Mercedes is all about class/luxury, more than they are about sport. Also, Mercedes has perfected the automatic transmission (no difference at all in acceleration and fuel economy). Also, the SL55 AMG has special touch shifters on the steering wheel that supposedly work great. Like I said, I don't care if you get Auto, but I do care if you push the Automatic transmission to other people saying "it's a smarter decision for everyday driving blah blah blah". The other 6MT drivers on this board such as myself...our everyday driving is a true pleasure for us. If you're not that hard-core about it, then fine, but don't give us the "traffic excuse" because all of us 6MT drivers hit traffic just as you do.

It's funny... it doesn't matter what type of board I visit (auto, coins, magic .. etc.), there is always someone like MrElussive who tries to ruin it. He is much like an annoying headache, if you ignore him he will eventually go away.
Who cares what tranny you have? Really, get your priorities in life straight. Your 6MT is definitely slower than your mouth. This you have proven.

I would have to agree.. Im not bashing anyone but just the idea of buying a sports car in automatic makes me sick.. But that is me personally.. Some people like it better, feel its smooth, or just plain old cant do the clutch shift thing and drive at the same time.. When I drive an auto I get soo bored I almost hate it.. The only way I would get a auto is either in a SUV or a PURE lux car, and that will be when Im about 60 and have authritus in my left foot. he he . So to argue about this is crazy cause everyone has there opinion.. I just love being in control of my gears and feeling the power in every gear whenever I want it!!

I've had Mercedes and BMW's. The Mercedes automatic is the worst I've ever had. The BMW's are good, but honestly, the automatic in the G I like better. Unless you've driven all of these cars, you can't really comment.
By the way, the G with 5AT is still fun to drive too! And as far as the traffic excuse for not getting a stick, it is valid if you live in big cities like L.A. and N.Y. If you don't, you can't really comment.
By the way, the resale value on manuals on almost every car, including BMW's is lower, they are harder to sell - so it's possible this fate awaits 6MT owners.

I always thought manuals were faster just do the driveline loss with an auto tranny. Usually a 20% loss with an Auto and only a 15% loss with a Manual.
Hence, 5% more rear wheel horsepower available with a manual.
G35 6MT/DG/Fully Loaded

masetodd, thanks to torque converter lock-ups and better automatic transmission technology, there is really no longer much of a difference in performance in manual vs auto. In BMW's, the difference between auto and manual to 60mph is around half a second, to a full second, so it really is very marginal to the average person. In the G35C, the difference is only half a second to 60mph, but there are no official figures from Infiniti, so it doesn't really make a difference.
As for traffic, I commute from NJ (where I live) to Long Island (Garden City, NY) a couple of times a week, and the traffic can get REALLY bad. So don't tell me about how stick shift in traffic. Half the guys arguing on behalf of the Auto transmission don't even know how to drive manual transmission properly.
From arguing over this, I'm sure a lot of people hate my guts now, but I'm in way too deep and I'm not gonna back out now. It's MY opinion...I'm not gonna settle down and agree with you Auto drivers just because most G35C drivers drive auto and they think they made the right choice. Obviously Automatic is the standard now in all cars, because not everybody can drive a manual. And it's not important to me whether people know my car is stick shift or not, what the hell do I care about what other people think regarding my transmission? Manual is so much hotter to drive than boring Auto...that is my opinion and I'm sure everybody who knows how to drive both transmissions adequately will completely agree with me. I don't need you freaking automatic noobs yelling at me and insulting me, telling me and others that auto tranny is the way to go...
