XM changes channels randomly every now and then. Never had any Sat radio before, but this seems wrong. I'm listening to Thelonious Monk on the real jazz station, and all of a sudden I've got some thumping 50 Cent rap accosting my ears. This is sub-optimal to me.

Other than that, and the fact that I cannot have the traction nanny turned off by default, everything is great.

Well I called Infiniti and talked to the service dept. at the dealer and they agreed that I should bring in the car. But, he first recommended that I take my car to the Empty mark and then fill it up. Write down how many gallons I got and keep track of how many miles on my tank. Then, give them a call when that tank of gas is done and report back to them with my results.

Looking at all of your posts, Id love to get 18MPG. What RPM do you guys typically shift at?

I uaually shift at 2800 to 3000 rpm at 1st and 2nd, than under 2800 rpm from 3rd to 6th. Ya, I live in Canada, so, ya, around 400KM I go with a tank of 94 octane, but after I changed my filter (to K&N) it seems like I can go around 20 to 30KM extra. Not too sure, but it seems like it is.

Ok. Ive been shifting around 3000RPM today and seem to be getting better gas mileage than when I shifted at 4000.
Im really debating ordering the Z-Tube because people claim they lose HP in the low end and because of the AC line rubbing problem. Input?

Oh n I'm not bragging about this, just simply sharing my scary situation I was in a few days ago, so it's winter and I miss driving my baby sooo much exspecially since I just got it in Oct. so I didn't get much of a chance to drive during the snow... but there has been a few days this winter that were warm enough and more importantly dry enough for me to take her out for a spin... Well 1 Wednsday night around 3am I just left this girls house after fighting with her so I wasn't in a good mood... I went to some mall n plaza parking lots which were big enought for me to practise doing some dounuts in... well I'd spend like maybe 5 - 10mins at each parking lot then left because too much of a smoke cloud and didn't want to cause too much heat... after like 5 parking lots, I was at the 1 closest to my house, a Crappy Tire lot n i was doing dounuts whatever getting some frustration out and as I faced the street, I saw this white crown vic unmarked signal into the lot... I finished my 360 n as soon as I was facing away, I punched it... the sirens went on and my heart apparently hit Nos cuz I ain't gettin caught for this, it's 3am I wasn't causing too much of a disturbance... it was a really big parking lot but by the time he got in i was near the exit, made a right, nobody around so I drove kind fast.. took the 3rd right and then another left, I saw this garage open and had no idea who's house it was but I drove in the garage... cut the lights n engine and just sat there for about a minute.. all of a sudden the cruiser flies by I waited a few more seconds then backed out n went home... I know pretty irresponsible n dumb of me but please understand I worked my *** off to get this car, went to buy it in the summer but they didn't have any white 6mt's left and the sales guy told me 06's coming late Oct. so i had to wait all summer then when it came, I barely had any time to enjoy it cause of snow so I was really tempted and on top of that Just got into a fight wit da lady... Thank god I got away... anybody else have stories like that they'd like to share?
You lost me.That's the longest sentence I've seen in a while.

There must be something wrong with your car. I drive it hard all the time. Only time Im not flooring it is when the engine is still warming up. I get 12mpg tops and I dont think I can floor my car more w/o crashing.

EDIT - I shift under 3krpm only when there is a lot of traffic. 80% of the time, its over 3krpm and out of those 80%, half must be redline.

Hmm, well then we'll see what happens with my experiment. Hopefully everything is working correctly. If there is something wrong, what could it be?

Extreme, thanks for your "experiment" and posting the results. I will try the same. I too get poor gas mileage - well not under 10mpg but about 12-14 mpg but I've always been shifting at 4k rpm. I say "poor" when comparing witht hose that say they get like 18mpg! I'm going to try 2-3 and see how much it improves.

My car is brand new as well - 06 6MT (298HP) with about 700km on it. Is yours 6MT as well?

No problem. I just started it yesterday and have only driven about 50 miles. Ill have to post back here next weekend or so when Im back down to a quarter of a tank or below with my full results.

I do have a 6MT, yes. I am shifting at 3000rpm every time with double-clutching/down shifts never exceeding 5000rpm. I filled up using Cheron with Techron Supreme 91 Octane.

You have to be a little patient with the break-in. The first couple tanks (i.e. 750 miles) were very low milage. The car now (3,000 miles) at a pretty consistent 20+ mpg. I shift around 3,500 rpm with the occassional, but daily, hard acceleration (i.e. 6,000 rpm) through third.

Ok, I'm also filling up with chevron too. Today I did try shifting at 3k RPM and lo and behold, navigation reported immediate improvement in MPG, by about 3MPG (now getting about 17-18MPG)! That's insane that shifting at 3k instead of 4k would make such a difference.

Anyway to your issue, it would be interesting to hear what the dealer discovers or has to say. 10mpg is way low...did you take it in? Let us know the results...

I have not taken it in yet. I want to get through this tank of gas first and see what the result is and then I will take it in depending on how poorly or how well it does. I will keep you updated tho.

So far, my gauge is bouncing around the 3/4 full mark with only 50 or so miles on it. Maybe 8 of those are on the freeway with half of those in bumper to bumper stop and go traffic. We'll see
