Hey Guys,
Basically I was going about 40 and I thought I was tiptronic so I tried to shift up but I was actually on drive and the car went to Neutral then to reverse! My car started to skid and then turned off. Now the car's exhaust doesn't even sound loud anymore, It barely roars when I hit 2000 to 3000 RPM and the car seems slower, Even my friends say it seems messed up. I don't know what to do, Do you think my car is messed up or its my imagination. Please help. - Daniel

 

Bigsmasher, This has happened a couple of times with peeps here for various reasons without any serious consequences. That isn't to say there isn't something gone wrong with your ride. Why don't you run by your service department and have them drive it. You don't have to explain too much as to what happened, and maybe nothing is wrong anyway. G/L

yeah, just bring it on into service and just say your car just don't feel right. let a technician drive it. i don't think you did any permanent damage or anything, but then again, it doesn't do your car good either. anyhow, just bring it to your dealership to have it checked out. better safe than sorry.

 

something similar happened to my friends older audi, it knocked the timing belt out of timing and it ran like crap.

 

Umm.. don't you have to push the shift release button in to get it to go past Neutral and into Reverse? Don't push that button when you're using the manual mode next time....

yea, i was under that impression too.

Man you must have really pushed it hard to get it to go into reverse, but this happened in my friends dad's tahoe and it ended up being ok, with no real problems

 

I will honestly say that being over excited the first week I had mine I missed the gate and went from D to N, but I think you would have to be drinking a TON of caffeine to actually get her up to R! I wish the best of luck to you, and please let me know what the resutls are- you never know when I might have to go throught the same thing.

No offense intended, but have these people who are doing this ever driven a car before? Nobody I've ever known in my entire life has done this to a vehicle before.

And I thought Automatics were supposed to be EASIER to drive.

Hod did you manage to get it into reverse? That takes an awful lot of force because any decent tranny will either lock you out of it or make it very hard to shift into while moving forward.
