G35 Pass. Side Mirror

I read through the previous post about the all too often problem of the Side Mirror BRACKET cracking... This sucks as well know since there is no replacement bracket. You either have to deal without a mirror or buy a whole new Side Mirror Kit.

My Problem:

My Mirror, Shell, Paint are all fine.
The Bracket is Broken.

I have decided after numerous searches, to buy a new side mirror from Infiniti:
Heated Type Mirror : $191
Not Heated: $165

If I buy the heated mirror, can I use the wire and the bracket from the new one and put it on my old one? This would bypass the cost of painting it, which goes for about $100-$150.

My Question:

Does anyone know if the wire can be used from the old mirror to new? Since my wire is snapped in two, had to yank it off so it wouldn't dangle...Yes I know, I should have properly disconnected it, but rush decision

Also, does anyone know how hard it is to replace it, regarding installation?

Thank you, I would apreciate any help!

How about epoxying it back togehter and spray painting it? It's just a flat black color right? Loctite makes a epoxy that dries hard and is sandable and paintable. You can get it at home depot.

Hey...

I had to replace my drivers side mirror cus some punk broke it off maliciously.

I did exactly what you mentioned... bought a mirror and then took the thing apart, removed the bracket and threaded the wires from my existing painted shell/mirror through the new bracket and reinstalled it.

It wasn't too hard, but I did have to try to figure some of it out since nobody else had ever done it before prior to that.

I did a writeup on it over on 6mt.net, although it probably wasn't too detailed. Whatever you do, fix it yourself though. I called some places out of curiousity to see how much it would cost to fix and the dealer quoted me at about 650 bucks for them to do it. SCREEEEWW THAT!

Feel free to IM me if you have any specific questions, my AIM is partyman66.

P.S, don't buy it from your local Infiniti dealer... you can get it from this dealer in Arizona(Pinnacle Nissan/Infiniti) via the web for like 153 bucks shipped to your door for the heated one(which is what we need).

Here's a link to where to buy the part:
