Question Inside of windshield. Check it out.

Hey guys....

I have noticed a device on my windshield, inside at very top of window just below headliner at passenger's visor.

The device is a black strip stuck to the window w/ a wire going from it into the headliner.

Anyone else have this?

Anyone know what it is?

Without looking at the shop manual, I would guess that it's a temperature sensor for the climate control

that makes sense, except, how would a sensor on the front window effect the autodiming mirror? If you look close the dimming only happens when bright lights are behind you, not infront on you.
Not to say your wrong, just seems odd....

Any other thoughts? or confirmations?

it's the wire that powers your autodimming/homelink mirror. i know this because i don't have the premium package and thus no autodimming/homelink mirror. when i got the x50, i found i could not hardwire it to the mirror itself like others could because no wire powers it there.
