Discounted Price on Coupe??

Hey everyone I live in Los Angeles and was wondering if anyone has any connections on getting a coupe at a discounted price. Ivory with Willow, 5 AT, Aero, Premium, Sport and Navi. I have read some other posts on this issue, but none in the L.A. area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. : )

If you pay sticker, you try and get as much free "stuff" (oil changes, mods put on, trunk mats, license plate covers) the more stuff you get free, the better deal you got. But paying under sticker is something almost no one on this site has done. Especially for the 6mt! Good luck

Re: Discounted Price on Coupe??

Discounts here in Atlanta of $1500-$2000 for coupes including 6mt are easy. If you are a shrewd negotiator you might get up to $2500 off a '03 with the '04 now arriving. I don't know about LA, but here all the dealers I visited had 15-20 coupes on their lots, hence the discounting. Look for a dealer with inventory, and don't forget to check out back behind service, or down the street, most dealers have overflow lots where they hide new car that are in demand.

I used to be in the business and once sold the one and only, loaded up, impossible to get floor model, to five different people! We had 16 of them hidden in the overflow lot 2 blocks down the street. Of course the sales manager told everyone it was the only one we had, and it was being held for the owners daughter. He even put a "sold" sticker on it, and had ropes around it to make it look even more rare! People would offer to buy it at the inflated dealer add on sticker all day long, just because they though it was the only one. Park at the service and parts area and walk the back lot first, before going into the showroom, that way you know what they really have.

There is a buying service on www.autospies.com that has a good reputation, if you don't want to haggle on your own. If they can't beat your best deal by at least the cost of their fee, then they refund your money, so it is a no brainer. There's a multitude of those out there doing basically the same thing.

If the dealers in LA won't deal, try calling dealers in surrounding states, like AZ or NV. You could always ship it home or buy a cheap airline ticket and drive it back.

To be honest, you can do the same on your own by calling all the dealers listed on the Infinti website within 150 miles of you. Ask to speak with the internet sales rep and let them know exactly what you are looking for, color, equipment, extras.... Tell them you are a serious buyer and you are taking bids for the best deal they can offer and plan to purchase within the next 48hrs. Do not let them get away with telling you to come in for their best deal, etc. if you are talking with the internet sales rep, they will handle it all via email. If they won't work this way, then ask to speak with the sales manager. If he/she is no help then move on to another dealer.
Once you find a deal you are happy with, require them to fax or email you a complete sales agreement with all fees, taxes, and charges, preferably with a vin# attached. You can even download one off www.autospies.com and send it to them if you like. Offer to put a deposit via credit card upon receipt of the sales agreement to show good will on your part.

You will find a deal this way, but it will take time and a lot of calls on your part. I bought our S2000 this way three years ago, when all the Georgia Honda dealers were asking $5-10 grand OVER sticker for the S2K!!! It pissed me off so much, I drove to Raleigh, NC and back in one day from Atlanta, but I got the car I wanted with the color and options I liked for $1200 under msrp, with no sales tax!!!!! Man, I love a deal!

Good luck, and good hunting!

I don't know about the rest of your post, but if you were a Georgia resident, the only way you didn't pay Georgia State sales tax on a car bought in North Carolina was if you registered the car in a state other than Georgia (unless you thought of some other chicanery to avoid it. )

Re: Discounted Price on Coupe??

Hey, I work at an LA area dealership. email me at kewloperator@yahoo.com and I'll try and see what kind of stuff I can get for you. Most likely you won't get the car under sticker (its pretty much impossible in LA area) but maybe you might get some freebie stuff thrown in. We started getting in 04 models just a couple of weeks ago, so they might be a little bit more flexible with the 03 models.

No chicanery on my part, just slackness on the DMV's part!

If you by out of state, then the dealer doesn't charge you tax, it's your responsibility to pay it to your state. When I went to get my GA tag, I was prepared to pay the sales tax. To my surprise, the tag lady said they don't collect that at the office. She said the state will mail me a bill for it in a few weeks, so I paid $50 for my license plate and fees. It's been three years, and three tag renewals, with no sight of a tax bill yet!!

Along the same lines, I wrote a $2300 check for additional state income tax I owed a few years ago to GA, and it's never been cashed. Go figure.

Re: Discounted Price on Coupe??

my experience has been is that the dealerships are more willing to deal on the 2003s. $1000 off sticker is what I found here in the NYC area. However, for the 2004, it's still sticker or even higher sometimes. They don't really have any incentive to discount the 04s but you can probably get an 03 down... at least get a couple free oil changes and some free stuff...
