2005 G35 coupe weight reduction
2005 G35 coupe weight reduction
I have a 2005 G35 coupe 6MT and would like to reduce weight from it. Does anybody have knowledge in removing the rear seat and if so, please provide the instructions on how to do so.
Somebody told me that I can remove the rear bumper supports but is that a good idea? If its not a safety issue then, how would I remove these supports?
Also, I'm open to any other weight reduction suggestions.

here's one that probably shaves off about 40lbs... your head/roof linings. All that foam and upholstry on top doesn't do anything anyways... take it out, nobody will even notice.
I wouldn't touch the bumpers, they work in conjunction to your crumple zones.
The only reason i got the G was because of the rear seats. My first choice was a Z. But overall, the G offered better amenities... offers a bit of both sport and lux. I'm glad i chose the G over the Z. Maybe you should have chosen the Z? Either way, they are both kind of overweight, and there are probably more cons than pros in trying to shave off significant weight on the G.

To remove the rear seat, just fold it down and pull up on the front portion. You're gonna need to put some muscle behind it too.
