Re: places to finance
I found the best place to find rates is http://www.bankrate.com
Currently, the best deal around is through Pentagon Federal Credit Union at 3.90%.
Even if you are not affiliated with any of the Defense branches, you can still 'become' affiliated by joining the National Military Family Association for $20 and you will be good to go. There is no prerequisite to join the NMFA.
The best part about the 3.90% rate is that if you simply qualify for the loan, you will get the rate.
I went this route and am expecting my '04 G35 Coupe within the next couple of weeks.
Re: places to finance
actually if you are a member of a credit union they probably have lower rates than other places. MCU in new york is having a autoloan special with 3.5% for 66 months and 4.5% for 74 months and like 5.5% for 84 months or something like that. Or if you're a recent college grad, you can qualify for their graduate rates but not sure how much those are... it seems for the coupe 3.5% is the lowest i've seen....
Re: places to finance

credit union is good advice....
personally, i don't care for financing at a dealership.. your mixing 2 seperate transactions: the car purchase and the financing... not to mention, its just ANOTHER party that gets access to your credit, ssn, and personal information. There is just too much of that going around nowdays.
Many banks and credit union have vehicle finance programs that will issue you a blank draft valid up to a predetermined amount that you can just take to any dealer you want and use to purchase your car. To the dealer, the transaction is pretty much the same as if you walked in with a HUGE roll of cash..... really simplifies things. Dealers just don't like it because it cuts them out of the finance deal. To me, they make enough money on the sale of the car.
Just my .02.

One more option is www.peoplefirst.com - they only take you if you have good credit, but they have good rates.
And by all means, if your dealer says they can beat the rate you bring in with you, let them try. Just pay attention to the details.. make sure the loan amount is the same, and that they're not trying to slip in an extra 3 or 6 months of payments.
