I know exactly what you guys are talking about... mine seems to do this around 3rd or 4th gear around 40mph also. It always happens on a straight road where a constant speed is held. To me, it feels like a quick minor sudden jerk, like that of a downshift in a manual tranny car when it's not done smoothly (but not very noticeable to other passengers). Did not want to bring it to dealer because it is hard to replicate the problem (or is it even a problem?).

Same here... glad im not the only one... i first noticed it going up hill... so at first i thought i had low ATF level... had the dealer check it (so they say)... they said nothing was wrong.. lately its been mellowing out... but it happens to my 04 coupe between 40 and 50 mph

I get a hard-shift when I shift my 6MT around 40mph into 5th... it really bothers me... so took it to the dealership, couldn't replicate it, but they wrote down "Noisy and difficult to shift transmission" anyways....

One thing that I noticed is that if you do an ECU reset, the tranny has to go through the learning process again, but in doing so my tranny has learned to shift smoother on downshifts from 3rd to 2nd and 2nd to 1st. Maybe you can try that. There's a sticky somewhere to do an ECU reset using the pedal method.

The jerk happens when in 'automatic' mode, not manumatic, at least not for me.

+1... and the famous harsh shift from 2nd to 3rd if you shift to fast or not high enough (RPM)

I know they sell those transmission grounding kits, would this help at all? my car does this as well, doesn't seem to happen all that often, but when i'm just cruising alot it sort of feels like someone bumped into the back of me! anyways, anybody know anything about the grounding kit?

I have an 05 coupe A/T and get the hard shift when the tranny is kinda cold. usually hapens in MM mode. I like it, feels like it has a shift kit. It goes away once the car is warmed up.

I had that issue since i got the car (05 AT) a big JERK from 2nd to 3rd. The solution to this.. just release the throttle a little before upshifting. But of course if you're driving an AT aggressively it's hard to remember take your foot off the pedal when you're gunning it.

Question

Hello, I among the rest of you guys, who have expierenced the same problem with the car. Auto 04, while driving at a constant speed around 40-50 expierence a hard jerk from what feels to be shifting to fourth or fifth gear. Every time I take my car into the dealership for other issues, I have asked them to find out why the car not always but a usually does it at constant speeds, and I was told the same thing, " we cant duplicate the problem". Has anyone resolved this issue? Or more importantly, has anyone been able to constantly duplicate the problem?
