30,000 Mile service - What REALLY needs done?
Hey all,
I'm well past my 30,000 mile service date on my 04 AT Coupe, as I just turned over into 40,000 miles...
I keep the oil changed religiously in this care every 3000 or so miles, but my question is how important is this 30,000 mile service? The reason I'm asking is because the dealer is NOT close at all, and was wondering if I couldnt just take it to a nearby shop and have them do the appropriate work?
Only thing i can think of is maybe having my tranny fluid replaced? What else would you recommend I replace/change?

You select what "needs" to be done......
I believe you can go over the list of what they want
to do at 30,000 miles with the service writer. Change
oil, check fluid levels and check belts and hoses. At
30,000 miles you may want to have your tranny and
diff fluids replaced. If you didn't already have that
done. Don't let them decide what needed to be done
you'll end up paying to have your tires rotated and
your antenna serviced...

Wierd I enjoy the sarcasm here. Nice and friendly... Odd how they will LUBE locks and hinges but not replace a fuel filter. I guess its jut not labor friendly. When I contacted my infiniti dealer their service manager told me that the 30k maintenance included the fuel filter.
Living in so cal I changed the fuel filter in my GTi every 8k, granted it wasnt in the gas tank it was still a maintenance job that made a difference in performance.
The car WAS force induced obviously making a difference in fuel response, but never the less I believe that a fuel filter is major maintenance.

Don't replace your cabin air filter at dealer. they are gay.
You can probably find DIY for replace cabin air filter --> http://www.g-owners.com/article_read.asp?id=29
Good photo instruction.=)

I scheduled my service with the local dealership for next week. I have about 33K on the car and this is what the service tech stated.
Do:
engine oil/filter
cabin/engine filter - I already did this so don't have to worry about it
throttle body induction service - He stated that this was pretty important to have done. Does anyone know anything about this??
He also said it would be just fine to wait until 60K to replace diff oil, manual tranny oil, and to have the coolant flushed/replaced.
Then I have a whole slew of warranty items that are going to be fixed. I'll be without my ride for a couple of days.
